7th Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web - Conference Championship Take Down!
Well that was a little anticlimactic. I sure wish the Packers had made it a better game and New England handled Pittsburgh pretty easily. That said we lost 10 and with the Super Bowl teams set there were a lot of people that picked the Patriots, but only 3 that correctly guessed the match up would be against the Falcons. And our lone player, Spankee, to pick the Falcons also correctly picked the match up. I've highlighted the four picks still in it.
Great job guys! I think this might be the most correct match-ups going into the Super Bowl yet. Good luck and I'll have a winners announcement in two weeks after the game!

Child of the 80's - A trade post
We interrupt the infrequent Super Bowl contest posts to bring you this trade post.
I'm a child of the 80's. I grew up on the A-Team, He-Man, and Chuck Norris movies. And of course a fond love of the Garbage Pail Kids. When John from Johnny's Trading Spot emailed me out of the blue if I was interested in trading for some GPK I was immediately interested, but hesitant. I wasn't sure if I could pull a trade off now. Most of my collection is currently sitting miles away in a heated storage unit. As I thought about it, that sage advice that Winston gives Ray in Ghostbusters echoed in my head, "Ray when someone asks if you're a god you say YES!" So when someone offers to trade you a big stack of Garbage Pail Kids, especially ones you need, you say YES!, So I said yes. Fast forward to a week or so ago and a flat rate box showed up on my doorstep and inside, packed very neatly (I wish I'd have gotten a photo of it) and wrapped like little presents, was about 300 Garbage Pail Kids, all from my want list.
I was really impressed with how good of shape the card were in. Johnny had said that he had picked this up with a larger purchase, but didn't elaborate too much. But whoever had owned these before John stored them very well. The cards ranged from Series 4 through I think Series 14. Here are a couple of my favorites.
So gross.
Pretty risque for 1986-87.
Currently my collection is housed in one two slot shoebox, but I'm hoping when we get a new house I might work these into a binder. This is also a picture before I added all of John's cards.
I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the new GPK stuff Topps has been throwing out. And I decided a couple years ago to stop going after any of the new stuff and concentrate on the original 15 series'. That said when I went to update my need list the last time I had updated it was March 2013! It's been awhile since I've thought about this collection.
Thanks John for putting some life back into it!

7th Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web Divisional Games Round Up
Well heck that was an interesting weekend of football. I don't think anyone was surprised to see the Patriots handle the Texans, although at half time I was wondering if there might be an upset. I was surprised how well the Falcons manhandled the Seahawks. What a game Sunday morning. As a Packers I swear the Packers are trying to kill me with a heart attack. And I didn't get to watch the Pittsburgh-Chiefs game but I here the kickers got a workout.
That said we lost 12 this round, but with the Patriots being the overall favorites there are still plenty of you in it. I've also added a few more cards to the prize pool.
First up for the Door Prize I have this great 1991 Domino's Pizza Quarterback Challenge complete 50 card set. Some great Hall of Famers in the set. It also comes in a nice little carrying case.
Added to the Grand Prize pool a couple nice numbered cards. The David Johnson rookie card is #d to 999 and the 2016 Certified JJ Watt Mirror Orange is #d to 225.
And I've also added a couple more relics. A very shiny Jeremy Hill Specta relic and a nice Sammie Coates Rookie Threads. And I might have a few more goodies to added after the Conference Championships.
Here is the break down of the picks and who we lost. See you all after the games next week.

Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web Wild Card Weekend Round Up
Well I'd like to say it was a great weekend of football, but most of the games ended up being pretty one sided. That said we only lost one this round. CaptKirk42 was the only one brave enough to pick the Lions and well you know what happened.
So good luck next week everybody. Should be some great games.

7th Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web Official Entries Post
And here we goooooooooooooooooooooo......
Wow what a great response. If my count is right we had almost 50 entries this year, 47 actually. And I want to thank everyone who promoted the contest too. I did make a much more concerted effort to promote my contest myself on facebook, twitter, and the trading card database. I will ask that if you entered and are reading this make sure you have contact information on your blogger account please.
It's obvious that the general consensus is a Patriots - Cowboys match up with the Patriots the overall favorite, but I'm still hopeful for my Packers. And there are a lot of teams with no picks what so ever so that could be a spoiler, but not likely.
Here are your official picks. I copied them straight over so there shouldn't be any mistakes, but if you see one let me know.
I'll be posting additions to the prize pool over the coming weeks. But first up is a nice auto relic combo lot of Super Bowl champion Adrian Arrington, I think he got a ring anyways, we was on the Saints Superbowl team, though I don't think he played. Adrian is or was the lead plantiff of a law suit against the NCAA in a concussion lawsuit. He is currently not playing. But still two cool cards. That Prestigious Pros is numbered to 25! And there will be more.

Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web 7 Official Sign Up post!!
It's time! It's here!! Another NFL season is gone and it's time for my annual contest!
Don't worry I'm not changing anything up. All I want you to do is tell me who is going to win the big game! That's it. Well almost. Since it's likely that more than one of you will pick the right team we need a few tie breakers. So like in years past I want you also to pick the opponent, the total points scored by both teams, and the total number of turnovers (fumbles and/or interceptions)..
Your entry should look something like this:
Packers over Patriots, 56 points, 3 turnovers.
I've got some great prizes that will include some autos, relics and hopefully a stack of your favorite team.
Here are your choices
AFC
New England Patriots
Pittsburgh Steelers
Houston Texans
Kansas City Chiefs
Miami Dolphins
Oakland Raiders
NFC
Dallas Cowboys
Green Bay Packers
Atlanta Falcons
Seattle Seahawks
NY Giants
Detroit Lions
The first game starts around 12:30 Alaska Time, 4;30 EST, so the contest will close Saturday at 4pm EST, 12 noon AKST.
Like year's past there will also be a door prize just for signing up and you'll get an extra entry into that prize pool for promoting this contest on your blog or other social media site of choice. Just make sure you leave a comment with a link to the post please.
Alright break out your crystal balls and get picking.
