I've been watching the first and so far as I know only 2011 Tribute Rookie Multi-Book 10 Autograph Redemption card on ebay. Here is the listing.
The auction just ended and in a last minute bidding frenzy drove the final ending price to $1725.00!!
Just in case anyone is keeping track.

Man it's getting boring going to go to the card shop and some Trade night pick ups.
Well I went to Don's Sportscard Trade night the other night. Both card shops in town do this. Bosco's on the first Wednesday and Don's usually a Wednesday in the middle of the month. Both nights I walked out barely buying anything. At Bosco's I literally left with out purchasing a single trading card but I did pick up a few comics. There just hasn't been anything I want to buy and with Heritage prices going threw the roof again this year and Tribute topping 70 bucks a pack, no thank you, there's not really much to buy for a baseball/football collector. Sorry UD Football with pros in college uni's doesn't count, at least not in my book. So there I was looking through Don's dropboard seeing if there was anything that peaked my interest and looking through his 1972 Topps Baseball for some Brewers to help me finish my set. I did manage to find a few things to take home with me. This is exactly what happened last year and why I ended up spending so much money on Heritage. Boredom with the hobby. Topps exclusive severely limits what I can buy which is too bad. Yes there is new Basketball and Hockey, but those are both sports I really don't collect. Enough with the soap box here's what I picked up.
First I found a nice 1971 Topps Football game Bradshaw for about 2 bucks. I really like these cards and the only other one I have is the Bart Starr. I really want to get my hands on a Willie Wood as well.
Got me a Favre for the old Favre collection. Even if it is in those awful colors. Another buck off the dropboard.
A Prince Fielder/Pablo Sandoval 2010 Bowman Sterling Dual Relic unnumbered. For 3 bucks I couldn't pass it up.
I also grabbed three MSA blank back discs of Johnny Bench, Mike Schmidt and Tony Perez, each a buck.
I also grabbed 4 1972 Brewers cards for my team set and I decided to splurge on a pack of UFC Knockout.
I have to say if I followed UFC more, I have friends who are nuts for it, I would definitely go after these cards and the other UFC sets. I pulled 2 numbered cards, one of Dan Hardy, who I actually know who he is, and this guy.
I ain't complaining, but for 25 bucks a pack I won't be going after this set. Maybe I'll see if I can pick one up on ebay for cheap.

This is Crazy, this is crazy, this is crazy cool!!
Well I've been popping over to the Robert Edward Auctions sites to see what crazy prices things are going for and it appears pretty obvious the two stars of the auction.
While there is all sorts of interesting stuff from all over the sports memorabilia spectrum the T210 "Shoeless" Joe Jackson red border Old Mill card is probably my favorite too.
Not a flashy at the T206's with there color paintings it's still pretty cool. Little history on the T210's I found. Issued in 8 Series in 1910 the Series designate the geographic area they were distributed in. Series 8 here was the Southern Association. There were a total of 640 known subjects in the set and Jackson along with Casey Stengel are the two most famous in the set.
You can see the auction here. As I write this the winning bid is sitting at $110,000 dollars!! I'm curious to see if it can go any higher with 17 days still left to bid.
The other noise maker in this years auction is the T206 holy grail of Honus Wagner.
If you haven't checked out the site and the auction you might want too. While I doubt anyone who reads my blog could afford much here it's always nice to be able to window shop.
cheers

This baby's been restored and there's all sorts of documentation that come with the card. Auction here.
Right now this card is has the highest selling price that I could find on the site at $140,000 buckaroos. If you haven't checked out the site and the auction you might want too. While I doubt anyone who reads my blog could afford much here it's always nice to be able to window shop.

2011 eTopps are out.
Sorry I'm a little late with this post as these have been out for almost 3 hours now and probably have sold out. But eTopps finally has begun offering it 2011 MLB IPOs.
Like the last couple of years, the offering will be heavy rookies with a few vets mixed in and the Rookies will be what Topps calls RRO or Restricted Rookie Offering. Meaning that the offer will close before the normal week that regular cards are offered at.
This year card number 1 is a favorite of mine and I have already ordered one.
If you've never seen an eTopps in hand they are very shiny and these look to be super shiny as well. Think Finest Refractors here.
Well have a good Monday.

The Hebrew Hammer!
Topps hasn't released what the backs will look like but this is what all the front designs will be. Not terrible, pretty much typical eTopps if you look back at past designs.
Here are the other two RRO's being offered this week

One of the Oldest Baseball Cards ever!!!
I'm still waiting for my new Robert Edward Auctions Catalog to arrive. Not that I can afford to buy anything there, but it's a beautiful catalog with some great examples of trading card and sports history. And even though I don't have my paper copy the auction is live right now online. I was skimming through the online auctions there and came across what many believe to be the first baseball card. Auction here.
Now any fan of the game can tell you that the Reds were the first and are the oldest professional baseball team. But seeing this card in the auction sparked some memories from a few years back about a news story about a woman who owns a thrift store who was sorting through some stuff and came across one of these cards. Do you remember that? No. Go read about it here.
Her name was Bernice Gallego. And she got her 15 minutes of fame from this too. Appearing on Leno, morning talk shows, and being featured on the nightly news and newspaper articles. This was about 2 years ago by the way. But I wondered is this the same card? The short answer is no it is not. This card actually looks like it's in better shape than her card. I found a good photo of her PSA sticker and they're not the same, so mystery solved there. Bernice's card was sold at auction through Memory Lane 2 years ago and sold for a little over 64 grand and with ML's 17.5 buyer premium pushed the final sell price over 75 grand. The buyer was Jeff Rosenburg President and CEO of Tristar.
REA's opening bid was 10 grand with the a estimate of 25 grand plus for the card. Right now the card sits at 15 grand and if Bernice's card sold for 64 thousand I can imagine that this example in slightly better condition might fetch a bit more, unless economic conditions come into play here and then who knows.
Check out the auctions and drool my friends some great stuff there I'll never be able to afford, but a cool collection to gaze upon.
Auctions close May 7th and I'll probably post about more cool stuff I find.

Topps Football Rookie Redemptions
As promised, although a little late. Here are the first 6 redemptions in hand plus one bonus.
#1 Jahvid Best
#2 Demaryius Thomas
#3 C.J. Spiller
#4 Sam Bradford
#5 Max Hall
#6 Chris Ivory
And oddly enough I got this one before #7
#9 Colt McCoy.
I went back and compared the cards with what Topps put out 3 months ago. The fronts are exactly the same. They didn't provide backs on the announcement date so I included all those for y'all. I was hoping that the white highlighting was suppose to mimic chrome, but it doesn't. These are pretty plain, but I'm not going to complain about free cards and rookies at that.
