My 10 year blog-o-versary quietly came and went mid-October. Hard to believe I've had this and a couple of my other blogs that long. You may have noticed that my quantity and quality of posts has dwindled to almost nothing. But I believe that's actually not a bad thing. To be fair I'm still pretty active over at the Yount Collector and A Pack to be Named Later so I haven't completely given up the ghost, but for the most part I haven't really had anything to say.
Let's catch you all up on the last year or so. I recently took a new job working for the Alaska Department of Transportation working in their Highway Data Division. I was getting pretty stressed out at my last job and it was taking it's toll on my well being and I'm happy to say that where I landed is pretty awesome. I work with a great group of people, I get to be outside most of the spring, summer, and fall, and on top of that I work a 4 day work week, which means 3 days weekends all the time!! It's taken me some time to feel comfortable in my new position, but slowly I've found my groove.
That being said I've given it a lot of thought and I've decided I wanted to make a effort here at the Collector's Crack. My goal at least to start is to put out one new, well thought out, and researched post every week. Well maybe I'll try for once a week, the well thought out and researched may come later. Anyway cheer to those of you still around and reading blog and to those that still put out great blog content.

9th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web - Winners!!!
My apologies for the delay in getting the Championship post up, it's been a busy week. But man what a great series and holy moly what a great game 7. Well if your a Nationals fan, and it just so happens that our Grand Prize winner is! One man picked the Nationals to win it all, so all the tie breaks are moot, unless those of you who picked the Astros want to figure out who came closest.
Anyway the correct prediction and tie breaks would have been
Nationals over the Astros, in 7, 22 Home Runs! And other than missing the opponent Kirk came damn close to a correct prediction to the outcome.
CaptKirk42 - Nats over Twins 7 games 24 HRs
Vrooomed - Astros over Braves, in 6, 18 HRs
Sportzcommish - Astros over Dodgers in 6 with 20 homers between them.
RAZ - Astros over Dodgers, 7 games, 21 HRs.
Ben Morris - Astros over Brave, in 7, 18 HRs
Fuji - Astros over Dodgers, in 6, 17 HRs
Matt - Astros over Dodgers, 5 games, 12 HRs - PIMP
FiresNBeers - Astros over Braves, in 6, 15 HRs
KMack - Astros over Dodgers in 5 games. 13 HR's.
Scribbled Ink - Astros over Dodgers in 6, 30 HRs
jlcre2003 - Astros over Dodgers in 7, 14 HRs
Nachos Grande - Astros over Dodgers, again. 7 Games, 28 HRs
Ray - Astros over dodgers in 6, 15
defgav - Astros sweep Dodgers, 10 HRs
It's clear from the entries that the favorites to make it to the end were the Astro and Dodgers. Had the Astros won RAZ would have taken home the prize. Besides getting a full set of 1990 Classic, Kirk will also get a nice selection of Nationals cards I can find laying around.
But let's not forget that if you remembered to submit an entry you've still got a shot at the door prize which was more Classic cards and a nice stack of cards from your favorite team. As in previous contests I added all the names of those who entered, people that promoted the contest and remembered to tell me get an extra entry, into a list randomizer over at random.org and then randomized the list 3 times. Let's see who won.

I'll be sending out emails to both our winners later to get make sure I have current address for both of them and hopefully get prizes out in the next couple days.
Thanks again to everyone who played this year. Don't forget I'll have my 10th Annual, yep it's a big one, Super Bowl contest later this year!! Also I've got some plans for the blog, not big plans, but plans to get back to blogging on a more regular basis, so stay tuned.
Again congrats to the winners!!!

9th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web - Game 7 Update
Wow what a crazy World Series and what an insane game 6. That being said I figured I'd do a little house cleaning and post an update going into Game 7 tonight on who's still in the running. Since no one correctly predicted the match up we have to move to total games in the series.
Kirk was the only participant to pick the Nationals as the winner, but most of the field picked the Astros to take the the whole thing and of those of you that picked the Astros we had 4 that correctly predicted the game would go 7, and as of right now there have been a whopping 19 Home Runs. This isn't the Price is Right so the person who guessed the closest to the correct number after tonight's game over or under wins. right now it really looks like race between Ben and RAZ if the Astros win.
Again thanks to everyone who played and I'll have an announcement either later tonight or in the next couple days. I have jury duty unfortunately to deal with too.

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web 9 - League Championship Break Down
Wow what an interesting round of baseball. The Nats swept the Cards, and the Astros finally took out the Yankees. I'm going to be rooting for the Nats in this one. No offense to Astros fans or the bulk of you who picked the Astros to win. I just love rooting for the underdog. Lets just hope all that time off hasn't cooled them down.
It would have been a very different landscape had the Yankees been able to take the series, but as it is we have a David and Goliath match up here. The bulk of the picks were for the Astros and rightfully so, but one man picked the Nats to go all the way. Not only picked the Nats but picked them early. Way to go CaptKirk42
Nobody that picked the Astros picked the Nationals as their opponent is it'll come down to games and dingers to decide that winner if the Astros take the series.
Enjoy the World Series and thanks to all those who played I'll be back after the series to announce the winners.

9th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web - Official Entries Post
Sorry for the delay.
Here are the official entries into this year's contest. We had 27 entries this year. Not too bad. Looks like the overwhelming favorite with you guys is the Astros. I also had someone post as Unknown, I left them in, but obviously I have no idea who that is so unless someone claims that entry very quickly I'll disqualify it. Other than that I wish every one good luck and I'll have an update after the divisional series are over.
