Before I left with my last trip. Adam from ARPSmith's Sportscard Obsession asked if I could help out with his 2012 Topps Football needs and if I'd trade one of the Auto's I'd pulled from one of my Jumbo boxes. Well I figured since I was sorting through my extras for Colbey's set, why not help out another set builder as well. Well I ended up being able to finish Adam's set and sent off the Kahil auto. When I got back from my work trip I had a nice think padded envelope full of Packery goodness waiting for me.
Here is a smattering of the goodness. Plus there was a lot more, some great team set filler for my sets.
And of course there was this...
Yowza!!! Thanks Adam. All those Packer cards have found a good home.
Other stuff I like, things I need, and free beer!

Welcome back Ed!!!
I'm sure you all have heard by now, seeing as this came out last night and I'm as much as 4 hours behind the rest of the country. But the NFL and the Refs Union have come to an agreement and we will have official officials on the field TONIGHT. I will be turning my flag back over. Now we can start bitching about blown calls from the real guys. Reset the standings and lets go!!

5 More packs of Series 8 Lego Minifigures
It's funny I get a ton of page hits when I post about Lego minifigures. So I'm going to post about them again. I was walking by the toy aisle at my local Fred Meyer's, the same one I seem to walk through all the time and the same one I snagged my first three packs from. I notice there were still a few Series 8 blind packs left. 8 to exact and I had thought of snagging all 8, but I think that would have been a little greedy. So I only grabbed 5 packs. And added 4 new figures to the collection. It's almost impossible for me to pass up a box of these things they're like crack. Here's what I got.
The DJ
The business man/banker. If you were paying attention you might have caught I said I bought 5 packages and only added 4 new figures. That's because I pulled two of these bad boys. So one if up for trade if you have an extra minifigures, kreons, ect. that I don't have, to trade for it. I have a link on the side to my need list.
Now my two favorite of the bunch.
Guten Tag!!! I got me the Bavarian/German/Lederhosen guy!!! Sweet pretzel. I love pretzels!!
I also got two feathers for his cap in the package. I'm sure that was just a production mistake.
And my favorite of the set so far....
The freaking pirate!!!! The best part is that peg leg and the hook for a hand.

OK I'm much better after a good nights sleep.
Ok Deep Breath. One last post and then I move on till this Sunday which I won't be watching the NFL if there are no real refs.
First I want to say congrats to the Seahawks. Your defense played awesome, Packer offensive line not so much. And yes if the Packers had done a few things differently than that last play of the game wouldn't have matter. But it did and I'm still a little miffed. I'm not mad at the Seahawks players or their fans.
I am still mad at Godell and the NFL for letting this go on. It's hard for me to blame the replacements. I mean how can you be mad at your dog for shitting on the floor if you don't let him outside all day? I mean he tried to hold it, but come on if you gotta go you gotta go. And with that I too scoured the web for funny things generated by last nights show. Sorry if you've seen some of these or I stole them from you.
Ok I'm better now. Hey baseballs still going on!! Kewl!!!

I'm in utter shock.
I'm still numb from watching that abortion of officiating that was Monday Night Football. I've shrugged at missed calls and muffs. I've laughed as the refs keep having to reverse their initial calls after review. I've sat by while players maul each other and get away with it. I've taken all I can. Yes I'm a Packer fan. Yes I'm bias. But after watching what I would call the worst officiated game I've ever seen I just can't take it anymore.
The international signal for distress is to fly your flag upside down. So I make this vow. I will fly my flag upside down and not purchase or anyway give the NFL any more revenue until this labor dispute with the real NFL refs is resolved.
You hear me Godell! Get off you ass and fix this!!!

Are you ready for another contest??!!??
Good. Stay poised. You're going to have to wait a little while longer. Got just under 2 weeks until the end of the regular season in Major League Baseball. And that means it's almost time for.....
Like last year I'll make the contest almost the easiest on the web.
I just want you to tell me who's going to win.
But since I'm sure more than one person will guess the correct team. There will be a few tie breakers.
And what might you win??!!??
Well you will win every single Golden Giveaway code I pull from Topps Update. So that will be at least 10 code cards, since I'm planning on buying at least one Jumbo box. But as is usually the case I'm sure I'll buy a couple rack packs and blasters. So the actual number will be whatever that is up to the end of the World Series. Since Topps has deemed Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico not worthy enough to be included in their stupid giveaway, my lose is your reward!
While the National League Pennant Winners are almost all tied up and the Wild Card race is hot, the American League Pennant Races are so close no team has clinched yet. That being said if the playoff picture is set before the final game on October 3rd I'll probably open the contest early, but it will definitely open October 4th and be open to any and everyone who would like to play up until the first playoff game.
And I'll probably have a bonus prize for everyone who played and to give you all some incentive to pimp the contest on your blogs.
Alright with that said, Go Brewers!

TTM Success Mike Cameron
I got another TTM back at the same time as my Billy Spiers return. None other than former Brewers outfielder Mike Cameron. I had seen a few other success for Mike and figured what the hell I gotta try. And I'm not sure what Mike is up to right now, but he signs quick. I sent this out in early September and got it back in a little over a week. Wow. I sent Mike his 2008 and 2010 Topps cards. Although he didn't play for the Brewers in 2010 he's still featured in the base set in a Brewers uniform. He signed with the Red Sox late in 2009 and played for them for two years before being traded to the Marlins and then signed with the Nationals but didn't end up playing for them. He also has played with the White Sox, Reds, Mariners, Mets and Padres. He must have enjoyed his time with the Mariners, because this spring he signed a one day contract to retire a Mariner. Well Mike I hope your enjoying retirement and thanks for the super quick return.

TTM Success Billy Spiers
I had written this one off a while ago. But it just goes to show you never know when you might actually get a TTM request back. I sent former Brewers shortstop Billy Spiers 3 cards back in May and got them back a few days ago. Billy went on to play for the Mets and Astros. He had one year where he showed his versatility playing 7 different positions in 1999. From what I could find Billy is coaching football and baseball in South Carolina. He's got a great signature and these three cards are great additions to the Brewers TTM project, since I didn't have a signature for any of the years and products I sent. Thanks Billy

2012 Panini Elite Pack Break, yep just one pack.
Continuing on with some of the packs I picked up at Don's I also grabbed just one Panini Elite. Or as I like to call it Foil board overload. Elite hasn't really changed up the formula since it came out. You can always count on really shiny silver cards.
MJD!
I was lucky enough to snag a hit out of my one pack. Unfortunately it's another Ram. No offense to Ram fans. I'm just not a Rams fan.
If you liked that last 6 or 7 years of Elite you'll love this years as well, since it doesn't appear that they changed it very much.
And all cards from this and the Momentum Pack break are for trade right now. I'm leaving Monday for a work trip and I'm not sure when I will be back, but drop me a line.
2012 Panini Momentum Pack Break
You get 3 cards per pack. I'm sure it's usually 2 base and the hit. Either an auto or relic. Here we have Percy Harvins base card.
And the hit...
A Chris Givens triple relic auto #d to 599. Not too shabby of a card. I wish it was of someone I've heard of. A quick google search confirms that Givens is indeed still on the Rams and wasn't cut preseason. I've seen a bunch of Panini products of rookies that didn't make the cut.
Overall this looks just like every other Panini football product I've seen so far this year. The only saving grace and makes the pack price worth it is the hit per pack, but like most products it's hit or miss. I mean I could have hit a Luck or RGIII card and made bank, but I got Givens. I still don't understand Panini's love of photocropping the background out of all their cards. I like the base design I just wish there was a little more going on on the card.

Cynicalbuddha's Top 100 #69
Been awhile since I posted a new addition to the Top 100. It's not I don't have cards I could put on it. Because if you look at the list it's not always about the value, a lot of times it about the story.
Well I put this up over at the Rolllie Fingers Collector, but I really just love this new addition to the collection, so I'm going to add it as #69 on the Top 100. Which remember is in no particular order.
I ended up finally picking up one of these 2011 Leaf Legends of Sport autos. I had seen them all over for a while now and then went to work and forgot all about them. Last week I saw one up for auction. The seller had a opening bid of 7.99. I would have prefered to start lower, but this card is only numbered to 16! So I figured what the heck if could get this card for under a ten spot I would still consider that cheap. Well I bid and then no one bid me up. So I took home this beautiful card for under 10 bucks deliveried. I'll take that any day especially an autographed card of one of my all time favorite pitchers and players.
I've actually never seen any of these cards in person before and I have to say they are incredibly well done and absolutely beautiful. I think Brian Grey is doing a great job over at Leaf with what he has at his disposal and if there comes a day Leaf gets a major sport license oh boy!.

TTM Success Amaury Rivas
I got to see Amaury pitch a little this spring training. I for the life of me can't remember how he did, but somehow I ended up with quite a few of his Bowman cards, both the regular and chrome, this year. So I figured I'd send him a couple to see if he would sign. This season Rivas was pitching with the Brewers AAA club the Nashville Sounds and I've had some pretty good luck getting guys from the club to sign. Amaury didn't have the best record posting a 5-8 season, but he did play in over 50 games this year.
I sent to Amaury way back in May and I had pretty much written this one off, but a few days ago I got one of my TTM return envelopes in the mailbox. I hadn't sent any new requests out in a while and the postmark was hard to read but low and behold it was this one. There was also a nice note in the envelope from Amaury's friend Elizabeth. It was the first ever reply I'd gotten from a TTM. And while not from the player, from the content of the letter, at least someone close to him. I was a little worried that she signed for him too but after looking at a few other autos online I'm pretty sure that's his sig. And while it would have been nice to have it signed in Sharpe I'm not going to complain about a return and getting a guy who might very well be in the bigs next year.

Second jumbo box of 2012 Topps football
As promised and way late are my hits from second box of Topps Football Jumbos. I picked this up at Trade Night at Bosco's earlier this month. Mainly it was to get more tickets for their pack drawing which was worth over $780. And like I posted earlier I didn't win, but neither did anyone else.
So I won't bore you with any fluff just the hits.
First up we have the golds.
So I won't bore you with any fluff just the hits.
First up we have the golds.
And Eli's Ring of Honor card. This might not seem like a hit, but I'm not too sure how hard these are to hit. This is my second jumbo, but I've also opened a blaster and few random packs and this is the first Ring of Honor card I pulled. And last year I opened a ton of 2011 Football and never pulled the Aaron Rodgers Ring of Honor card.
This box also had a little more color in the parallel department.
I got me one camo parallel. I don't know why I like these so much, but they're pretty cool and numbered to 399.
I also got a black Darrelle Revis parallel. I hope the poor guy is alright last I heard he had a concussion.
My rookie patch card was this LaMichael James. I know the relic is only player worn at an event were they get the rookies to put on as many jerseys as possible, but man they look so nice with a dual color and stitched seam.
Hmm this card looks familiar. Yep another Ahmad Bradshaw auto.
And my other auto was a Matt Kalil rookie auto.
So there you go.
And I found out I'm leaving Monday for another and hopefully last work trip of the year. I'll be gone from the 17th till no later than the 27th, but who knows. I apologize for not getting my act together for some trading, but once I get back I'll be free and clear.
cb out.
