An unexpected addition from the LCS and an addition to the Top 100

I stopped in at Don's Sportcards here in Anchorage last week.  My wife was picking up my son so I was kid free and decided to just pop in to Don's to see if there was anything interesting and to pick up a couple boxes for a couple sets I was putting together.  Don has a great feature in his shop called the drop board.  It's a huge section of wall with peg board and hooks and he hangs a bunch of cards and packs up.  Each card is listed with a price.  Usually a good 20 to 25% off from the Beckett price and ever week that card doesn't sell it gets marked down a little till it reaches a dollar and that's the lowest it'll go.  But I've picked all sorts of good relics, autographs, and vintage from that drop board for crazy low prices, a lot of them for the bottom dollar price.  Well to my surprise Don had a ton of this year's Panini Cooperstown hanging on the wall.  All sorts of inserts and autographs from the set.  And then I saw the Ignitor just sitting there marked down to I think it was six whole dollars.  I couldn't pass it up.  I'm not a huge collector of Paul Molitor, but he was a Brewers for most of his career, is still beloved in Milwaukee, and I do have a nice stack of his cards in my collection, but I didn't have an autographed card till now.  I have a sweet relic I picked up years ago, rookie cards and everything in between, and now I have my first, but hopefully not last auto of the #2 all time top Brewer.  On top of that I haven't added a card to my Top 100 in while.  I had to look and see what number I stopped on.  So this is card #72 in my Top 100 cards in my collection (the number is not the card's rank in the Top 100, the Top 100 has no rankings).

Welcome to the collection.

Cynicalbuddha's Top 100 #71 - 2014 Topps Finest Robin Yount Finest Greats Autograph

Has it really been almost 2 years since I did a Top 100 post?  Yep you can read my last one from November of 2012 here.

I don't know if I just got bored with the whole series or just ran out of cards I wanted on the list. But  it's been awhile.

But with the recent addition of my newest Robin Yount auto I figure I'd add some more to the list, which stopped with #70.

Now remember I'm not listing cards in order of greatness or importance, no they're listed in order as I find them or acquire them.  So just because this card is #71 in the series doesn't mean it would be #71 if I had to actually rank them.

So with out further ado here is card #71 in my Top 100 Cards in my Collection

Cynicalbuddha's Top 100 #69

Been awhile since I posted a new addition to the Top 100.  It's not I don't have cards I could put on it. Because if you look at the list it's not always about the value, a lot of times it about the story.

Well I put this up over at the Rolllie Fingers Collector, but I really just love this new addition to the collection, so I'm going to add it as #69 on the Top 100. Which remember is in no particular order.

I ended up finally picking up one of these 2011 Leaf Legends of Sport autos. I had seen them all over for a while now and then went to work and forgot all about them.  Last week I saw one up for auction. The seller had a opening bid of 7.99.  I would have prefered to start lower, but this card is only numbered to 16! So I figured what the heck if could get this card for under a ten spot I would still consider that cheap. Well I bid and then no one bid me up. So I took home this beautiful card for under 10 bucks deliveried.  I'll take that any day especially an autographed card of one of my all time favorite pitchers and players.

I've actually never seen any of these cards in person before and I have to say they are incredibly well done and absolutely beautiful. I think Brian Grey is doing a great job over at Leaf with what he has at his disposal and if there comes a day Leaf gets a major sport license oh boy!.

Cynicalbuddha's Top 100 #68

Wow I've really slowed down on this Top 100 thing.  I still have lots of goodies I'd like to added, but I wanted to make sure I had a little room to add new stuff.  I've already posted this, but I was so excited to actually get it and in person no less. Lets just say this made my trip to Spring Training.  Glad to hear the Brew Crew will be at Maryvale at least a few more years, it's a great facility and once I figured out where to get the autographs, turned out to be a quite productive for my collection.

Well sticking with the vintage oddballs and Younts. Next we have a full Burger Chef box with 9 discs featuring the Brewers of 1977.

A quick search on the internet tells me that at one time Burger Chef was the second largest fast food chain in the USA, second only to McDonalds.  Eventually Burger Chef got bought out and became part of the Hardee's/Carl's Jr. empire, with the last Burger Chef closing some time in the mid nineties. But in 1977 their triple play funmeals came in these nifty boxes each featuring a certain team. I don't know if certain teams were available only regionally or if you took your chance when you ordered the meal.   I'm sure some kid New York was very disappointed to get this Brewers tray.  You can find the disc's individually, but finding fully intact full trays isn't too hard and most of these boxes go for under 10 bucks.  Still a cool oddball.

So #67 on my :Top 100

1977 Burger Chef Full Triple Play Funmeal Tray featuring the Brewers Team set/ Yount included.

Of course I not only wanted the try as part of Brewers history, but also for the featuring a fresh faced Robin Yount.  I also have the lone disc in the collection.

If these trays had come out a year earlier the Brewers Team Tray might be a little more valuable featuring a Hank Aaron on it, but for the most part the Yount is the money disc here, but here's the rest of the team in close up.

Cynicalbuddha's Top 100 #65

Been a while since I posted a card on the Top 100.  I recently picked up this beauty from the local non-regular card show here in town.  I've bitched about the card shows before, mainly that there are only two guys selling and they usually have to hold it with the stamp and coin sellers, but hey ya gotta do what you gotta do.  I wasn't expecting much and I wasn't disappointed, but I started jawing with the guys, one is a big Steelers fan the other an Eagles fan.  And my eye wandered across this beautiful Paul Molitor patch.  He knew I was a Milwaukee fan and pointed out the card.  I commented on how nice it was and finally asked what he wanted for it.  To my surprise he offered me a really good deal so I took it.  It's hard to pass up a card this nice with holder.  So at least I didn't come away from the show empty handed.  Last time I showed up I also picked up a 2011 Robin Yount Tribute Gold Parallel I needed, for super cheap.  So for all my bitching it's not really that bad, plus the guys do have quarter boxes and are always willing to make a deal.

So #65 on the Top 100

Ah Ahman.  I miss Ahman Green.  He was fun to watch and a relatively good running back. He still holds the Packers record for most yards..
I like the fact that Ahman retired a Packer too, coming back in the 2009 Season to fill in for Wynn.

I picked this up a while back from Don's Sportscards.  It might have been all the way back in 2002.  I know I've had this card a long time.  It's just so awesome and a pain in the ass to store.  It's freaking huge.

I know what your going to say.  "What two Robin Younts in a row??!! And didn't you already feature a 2005  Baseball Heroes card on here??"

The answer is yes to both, but it's a different kick ass card.  Upper Decks Baseball Heroes had so many parallels and variations it's hard to keep track of them all.  I have a fairly detailed spreadsheet with my Yount collection on it and even with that it's hard to figure out all the different cards in this set.  Yount actually has 5 cards in the base set, so that means he has 5 cards in every parallel set as well, you get the idea, a lot of cards.  I'm still picking up and finding new ones all the time.  Some are numbered, some are signed, some have relics, some have relics and autos, some have relics, autos and are numbered. You get the idea.

What we have here is the Blue Signature parallel numbered to 20!  And it's only 3 off his number too, so that's an ebay 1/1 right?  Say what you want about parallels, I like them.  They give me something to chase. Because I don't think I would ever be satisfied if I could look down at my Yount player collection and say done!

So number 63 on the Top 100

Cynicalbuddha's Top 100 #62

I warned you a while ago these Top 100 posts would be getting more and more PC-centric.  So we have another Robin Yount card.  A beautiful low numbered patch card.  Every now and then I'll just spend an hour or two surfing the listings on ebay for new cards for my player collections.  Sometimes there's some incredible Yount's up there.  I've seen some great collections being sold off.  It's times like that I wish I was rich so I could try and snag all the great cards, but most of the time I'm lucky if I can snag even one of them.  I won this card off of ebay a few years back in one of those mass sell-offs.  The nice thing is with so many awesome cards to choose from some get over looked and I snagged this bad boy pretty cheap.

Wow we're  3/5ths of the way done here with the top 100 cards in my collection ( in no particular order).
Since I featured a nice Reggie Patch card from UD Premier yesterday why not a nice Triple relic from my favorite baseball player of all time.  I like the spacing of the relics in this card.  On the outside you have two awesome multicolored patches and on the inside a nice pinstripe relic.  And to top it off it's #d 20 out of 20 so that's an ebay 1/1 right?

Another day another Reggie.

I remember thinking I can't believe I picked this up so cheap.  Looking at the colors I'm assuming the patch came from an old Angels jersey.  Still a nice low numbered patch card.

Cynicalbuddha's Top 100 #58

Wow it's been a over a week since my last Top 100 post, that trade night win took up some space, but lets get back to it.

Another Yount from the Yount collection.  Triple Threads has always been hit or miss for me.  Especially the relic cards.  Some of the designs are just so clunky and visually unappealing. I actually like the base cards more than the hits.  But this card has a nice symmetry with all the letters and numbers. Plus the relics are arranged nicely and one has the ever popular pinstripe.  I sure the seller listed this card as a 6 relic card but we all know that it's 3 relics with 6 letters, it's pretty obvious.  Still a nice card of my favorite baseball player of all time.

Jordy, Jordy, Jordy!
Man what a great year this kid is having.  I mean he was awesome in the Superbowl and then just carried that through to this season.  Just incredible.  Mix with that the season the Pack is having and that they just offered stock again. It's a great time to be a Packer fan.  Jordy's cards are starting to get some notice with his new found popularity. Luckily I scored this card early last year before he was on a lot of collector's radar.  That's when I picked most of my Jordy auto's and relics.  I can't remember what I paid for this relic, but trust me I got it cheap.  A great rookie card here. Yeah I know that this is all stuff Jordy touched or wore during the Rookie Premiere in 2008, but who cares a great multirelic card.

Here's another great Rollie from the Rollie Fingers Collection.  I picked this up a few years ago and I know I got it cheap, because this was the same time I was picking up cheap Rollie autographed cards all over the place.  I've also seen these cards signed with a black Sharpe.  I never saw this product in cards shops back in 2004 and I'm sure I never would have ripped a pack. It was way out of my price range.

Back again?  Well good, come get your next helping of the Top 100.   Here's a card that for a Robin Yount collector is pretty cool.  I don't remember when I picked it up and I have no idea what I paid for it.  There is also a Gold version of this card, if being numbered to 50 isn't low enough for you, that's numbered to 10.  I don't have that card. Still a great looking card.  The scratches on the scan are from the screwdown holder  not the card.  Yount has a few cards in this set which as you would imaging is just choked full of good stuff.

I love oddballs and I love the old Topps inserts and of course I love the Packers.  I've had a few different cards from this set on and off.  It's hard not to like these.  There smaller in size so there's the mini appeal and of course there vintage so that always helps.  There's quite a few HOFer's in this set.  2 players per team.  The other Packer featured in this insert set is #22 Willie Wood.  I have that card somewhere.

Anywho number 54 on the Top 100.....

This year Topps put out there Leather nameplate manu-relics and Robin Yount didn't get a card.  But last year's manu-relics Bat Barrels he sure did.  These were put into the Update Series .I was lucky enough to snag one of these limited Black Bat Barrels without breaking the bank.  I also picked up the regular version too numbered to 99 as well.  I have to say that in hand these are pretty neat.  And beat the socks off of the Leather Name Plate cards that just seem kinda cheap, plus the base leather cards aren't even numbered.

Ah with the Pack 11-0 how about we have a card of a Packer of Yore?
Robert Ferguson.  I'll be honest I have no idea where I got this card.  But it's pretty cool. Die cut and a jersey relic.  Robert didn't have too stellar of a career with the Packers, but not too terrible either.  He played 5 years with the Pack then two more with the Viks.  Robert's best year was 2003, when he caught 38 balls for 520 yards and  4 TD's.  Last year he played with the Omaha Nighthawks in the UFL.  He's not listed on this years roster though.

But still a great card.  #52 on the Top 100.

I hope everybody's  Thanksgiving was good.  I'm tired, hungover, and tired of Turkey sandwiches, but relatively unharmed.  I think it's best we get back to the Top 100.

I picked up #51 off of the 'Bay. Long before Ryan won NL MVP, well a year anyway.  I've pulled a couple of these Bazooka backs ripping A&G, but I really wanted one of my main man here or at least some other Brewer.  When this bad boy popped up I snagged it.  I don't remember what I paid, but I remember it was reasonable.

So number 51 on the Top 100 (which are in no particular order)
