Topps announces the return of Stadium Club!!

Just saw this on my Facebook feed. Topps teased the following picture of the return of Stadium Club.  There was no additional information like, date of release, cost, set size, inserts, etc, yet.

It'll be interesting to see if Topps makes this another super high end set again, or brings it down to a level us mere mortals can enjoy.  But I'm happy the brand is returning and if the mock up is any indication we can enjoy a borderless full bleed set like days of yore!

Thoughts?

  1. Loved the photography in SC. Hope they don't F it up like they did in 2008.

  2. The Stadium Club brand officially jumped the shark in 2008 in my opinion. No matter how cool it was at one time, the multiples of 3 and confusing double photos ruined it for me. I will be getting the Rockies after market and will never buy a single pack of this brand again. They just cannot remove 2008 from my mind no matter how much they try this year.

    1. I completely forgot about how terrible the set was. Not the look or design, just the numbering, pricing, terrible autograph subjects, the bizarre varations and short prints, ect. I was lucky enough not to have bought any, so I'm not nearly as jaded. But yeah I'm waiting to hear the specifics of the set.

  3. Man, that sounds really cool. Realistically, I'm just waiting to see how they will screw this one up, just because, well, there are things I don't like about pretty much all Topps releases. Maybe it's just the grouch that I'm becoming as I get older. Anyways, TSC was one of the BEST releases on a pretty consistent basis in the 90's, so I'm glad it's coming back.

  4. I think the 2008 Stadium Club set killed the last vestiges of set collecting in me. I loved the brand in the 1990s, but they aren't going to bring it back as the kind of set that I enjoyed.

  5. I hope it looks like 1991 Stadium Club, I wasn't collecting in 2008 so no idea what they screwed up then!

  6. If they make it a high end clusterfuck like they did in 2008, I will just do what I did then, pick up the base cards cheap on ebay from the suckers/speculators and enjoy them. That was a great looking set that was so totally messed up in the delivery.

  7. Quick.......grab a crash cart......Topps is flat lining! Let's combine topps moments and milestones with Stadium club.....they said. Fun it will be.....they said. "We've never done a set with multiples of the multiples of the remade reprints of the multiple reprints," which according to Beckett's book value should be infinite in price value according to the email.....they said.

How many times can you rehash a photo of a photo because it's just too much anymore. I wish topps would just cut back on the number of set they're producing. Eliminate the flag ships (regular topps and bowman) and just make everything in chrome.

  8. I absolutely loved Stadium Club back in the early 90's. I remember spending top dollar and busting a bunch of those cellophane packs back in the day. Can't wait to see what Topps does with this line.
