12-12-12 Happy Aaron Rodgers Day.

There are some things Wisconsinites take very seriously.  Cheese for sure, it is delicious, and the Green Bay Packers.  So as a joke Jennifer Brilowski decided to start a facebook page "Let's make 12/12/12 Aaron Rodgers Day" and the state legislature in Wisconsin did.  See politicians can do useful things.

I was thinking of working up a nice post with the best of my Aaron Rodgers collection, but I didn't.
So instead in celebration I present a card I will probably never own but is very nice.

Mr. Rodgers 2005 Exquisite dual relic auto.  I'm not sure if it's real, but the seller is only asking about $1775 ungraded.  What a steal!!

And I got 10 inches of fresh snow this morning! My dog was very happy about that.

TTM Success Dale Murphy!!!!

I was greeted by one of my return TTM envelopes when I got home yesterday.  It was cancelled in Utah and for the life of me I couldn't remember who I sent too in Utah.  I had sent a few large batches of cards out a while back, so much to my surprise and joy I finally got a response from one of my favorite players growing up.  Dale Murphy.  I don't remember sending 3 cards, but I forgot to write down how many I sent so I must have sent 3. Which is my upper limit.  I had been seeing lots of successes over at Sports Card Forum and I'm happy to add these great sigs to my collection.

 Thanks Dale!!

Sometimes they get it right Part Deux - Lego

If you read my post about the Lord of the Rings Lego set Gandalf Arrives you may have noticed that there was a damaged piece.  I didn't point it out, but there was. One of the 2x6 pieces that make up the side of the wagon was bent and deformed.  I still made it work, but I decided to see what Lego would do.

So I went to Lego's website and followed their links for missing and broken pieces.  It was pretty simple.  They asked me what set I had and what piece was missing or broken.  It was easy and interactive.  I then provided a brief description of what was wrong, my address, and sent off the request.  Well a few hours later I had a response and the next day I had an email telling me that they were shipping my piece, all the way from Denmark.
About a week later I get this padded envelope in the mail and the following letter.
Lego takes their quality and customer service very seriously.
It was nice to deal with a company that was easy to deal with and took care of me quick and fast. They also sent me a survey about my experience with them in a follow up email.  And while Lego's are pricey it's nice to see that the company gives you something for that price, in quality and customer service.  Thanks Lego for a painless and quick resolve to my problem.

Dammit Topps I thought I was done with you for the year.

I was just casually looking through some listings on the bay and came across some listings for the new Topps Heritage WWE set.  A vintage set of there 1985 WWF release, which I have a ton of somewhere.  I haven't paid attention to professional wrestling in more than a decade, but back in the mid-80's I was a huge fan.  I couldn't wait for Saturday Night's Main Event and the other weekly wrestling shows.  I haven't seen any of this yet around my neck of the woods, but dammit I'm probably going to have to pick some up.  I think I might be able to get away with just a blaster.  But the thing that got me most was that one of the inserts is an Allen and Ginter mini set. You know I have a weakness for mini's.  And look at this checklist, while I don't know a lot of the newer guys, there are some classic 80's wrestlers in there, no Honky Tonk Man or Hulk Hogan though.

2012 Topps Heritage WWE Allen & Ginter Checklist
1 Brock Lesnar
2 Christian
3 CM Punk
4 Daniel Bryan
5 John Cena
6 Kelly Kelly
7 Kofi Kingston
8 Layla
9 Randy Orton
10 Sheamus
11 Booker T
12 Diesel
13 Mankind
14 Stone Cold Steve Austin
15 Trish Stratus
16 "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes
17 Andre The Giant
18 Big Boss Man
19 Big John Studd
20 Cowboy Bob Orton
21 Doink The Clown
22 "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan
23 Kamala
24 Koko B. Ware
25 Papa Shango
26 Paul Bearer
27 Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
28 Terry Funk
29 Vader
30 Yokozuna

I was also looking through the base checklist and there are quite a few names I would have included that I noticed were missing, but that's another rant.
I most definatly will be putting the Allen and Ginter set together.  I might even grab the base set too for fun.

Whovians - The Eleven Doctors Box Set from Character Building

God, I'm such a nerd.

I'm a huge Dr.Who fan.  I started watching Dr. Who back in the mid-80's and mostly Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor.  I would stay up late on weekends and watch the old BBC episodes.  By the time I was watching them Tom Baker had retired as the longest reigning reincarnation of the character, but since PBS was a couple years behind in airing the episodes I got to watch most of Tom's run.  When the 4th Doctor reincarnated into the 5th Doctor I kinda lost interest.  Fast forward to now and the current reincarnation of the series.  I was mildly aware that they had brought the series back, but hadn't seen or sought out any shows until I realize that I could stream them on through Netflix. After about 4 episodes of the first season, I was hooked.  I've slowly worked my way through the middle of season 4, ssshh don't spoil it for me.

Anyways I've featured Character Building's mini figures here before.  The only ones you can get in the US are the $1.99 gravity feed assortment imported by JDNA.  But in the UK Character Building is a pretty big brand with multiple licenses for some pretty big properties.  One of the them being Dr. Who.  I couldn't resist picking up the 11 Doctor Box set off of Amazon.

Inside of the box.
Each Doctor comes with it's own DW display base.  I think the Dr. Who blind packs also come with one of these.

Lets have a look at all eleven.

I think my favorite is still the 4th Doctor. Not only because I enjoyed watching him growing up, but he comes with a scarf!! So who's your favorite Dr. Who?
