3rd Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web World Series Finalist!! And then there were 7.

Wow I thought the Tigers might have forced a game 7. That was until the 7th inning last night.  Either way we now have our World Series teams set. We lost a lot of people in the last round and now have just 7 moving on. And of those 7 noone picked the Red Sox over the Cardinals, but we have two that picked the Cards over the Red Sox. So if the Cards pull it out that will be the first time I've had anyone, let alone two people pick the correct team and the correct opponent.  Pretty cool.  Here is the line up that we had going into the LCS games.
Greg Zakwin - Dodgers over Oakland in 6 games, 7 HRs

Play at the Plate- Dodgers over Oakland in 5 games with 8 homeruns. PIMP

Richard Nebe Jr - Boston over the Braves in 5 with 7 homers. PIMP

Cards from the Quarry - Cardinals over the Indians in 6 with 13 homers.

JediJeff - Tigers over the Dodgers in 5 - 12 dingers.

Bo - Cardinals over A's in 5 with 4 HRs

defgav - Dodgers over Tigers in 7 with 7 HRs.

Stealing Home - Dodgers over Red Sox 5 Games 11 HRs

Dion's IP Autos Only - Tigers over Braves in 6, 8 HRs

Superduperman99 - Cardinals over the A's in 6 with 9 home runs

Dhoff - Tigers over Braves in 7, a dozen dingers.

Remember you were playing for that sweet box set of Pinnacle The Naturals and 1990 Topps Coins set. I'll also be throwing in some vinatge packs I have lying around. Vintage being over 20 years old! Ahem yeah that puts them in the junk wax era.
I also found a nice door prize for all who entered.
How's about some vintage!! Real vintage this time.  I've got 3 1969 Topps cards to give away.  Nobody special and condition is well loved, but still 69 Topps.

Thanks everybody who played and pimped.  Next contest post will be the winner announcement.

Fan Packin' Across the USA!! Yankees vs. Red Sox

I found my Yankees fan pack I got a couple of weeks ago and it must be fate that just the other day my Red Sox fan pack made it to me as well.  And since the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry is one of the oldest in sports history, lets keep it going by seeing how each team's fan packs stack up against each other.

Interestingly enough the Red Sox package was sent from Florida.

Lets start with the Red Sox.

First we have a letter from Phil Derick the Fenway Ambassador.  At first I was pretty in awe to get a hand written reply letter, but after looking a little closer and a quick search on the internet it's pretty obvious that this a reprinted form letter.  I also got a nice Red Sox sticker and a bag of Fenway dirt. Since this is my third Red Sox fan pack it's also my third bag of dirt.  So I'm slowly working on my own infield track made up of Fenway dirt.
There was also a Red Sox Nation arm band...
The 2012 Red Sox schedule celebrating Fenway's 100th Anniversary.
There were also two picture postcards one of Wally the Green Monster and one of Adrian Gonzalez.

Did you know you could get Wally to come to your next birthday party?

I'm sure his traveling cost would make it a little cost prohibitive to get him up here in Alaska.

Next up the goodies from the Bronx.

We have here 2 bookmarks, 2 pencils, 2 sets of stickers, there are 3 stickers per sheet, and an advertisement for Yankee's Universe.

There was also a 46 page coloring book and...
Two 2012 schedules. This year celebrating Jeter's 3000th hit.

Over all it's really close.  Both teams put out a very nice fan pack, but I'm going to have to give it to the Yankees.  Mainly because of the coloring book and pencils.

cb out.

Cynicalbuddha's Top 100 #11

Once again we venture back to 2005 for the next card on the Top 100.  It's hard not to like Yaz.  A 22year franchise Boston guy, HOFer, and baseball icon.  When I pulled this I was blown away, yes again.  I'm no Boston fan, but come on this card is pretty cool.  2005 had some great stuff.  Lots of things make this card great.  First, it's serial numbered to 39!  At the time this was one of my lowest numbered cards ever. Second, the relic has a seam in it.  It would have been better with some color, but at least it's got texture and the card actually says it came from a pair of pants.  Third, we have a 72 year old baseball centennial commemorative stamp on the card.  The stamp is cataloged in Scott's as No. 855 and worth a little over 2 bucks uncancelled.    So #11 in the Top 100...
