6th Annual Almost the Easiest World Seriers Contest on the Web - Championship Round Up
Here we are. A day away from the start of the World Series. What a crazy if not predictable outcome. It's funny I took a look back at my original prediction which was used to demonstrate the format of the contest picks and I got both teams right! What's even better is that we had 4 people also correctly guess the two teams that will make up this 112th match-up.
Over all we had 14 people pick the Cubs to win it all and two for the tribe. So that's 16 people who made it this far. But of course that means we have to take it to the tie breakers and we had 4 people, 3 for the Cub and one for the Indians, correctly guess the match up. Those people are in Green.
If the Indians win TSHenson wins outright. If the Cubs win we'll have to take it to the next tie breaker, total games in the series. Of which Adam K, Michael O., and defgav all picked different numbers.
Here's a look at the picks coming out of the league championships. Good luck and enjoy the series!
Ugly Duckling - Cubs over Orioles, 7 games, 23 HR
Jeff S - Indians over Dodgers / 7 games / 8 hrs - PIMP

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web 4 - World Series Round
Well I got to see zero games in the league championships, but I've been checking box scores.
Out of 14 contestants we're down to 5. Four picking the Royals and only one person picked the Giants to win it all.
Here are the picks going into the championship series.
John Hazen - Baltimore over the Nats 7 games 8 homeruns
hiflew - Orioles over the Cardinals in 6 games. 9 HRs.
Josh D. - Royals over Dodgers. 7 games. 6 HRs
Jeff S - KC Royals over Pirates in 7 games, 5 HRs. pimped
Red Cardboard - Cardinals over Orioles, 5 games, 5 HRs
Ryan H - Orioles over Pirates in 6 games with 9 homers
Paul Hadsall - San Francisco over Detroit, 5 games, 6 HRs, pimped
Jupiterhill - Royals over the Giants in 6 games, with 5 homers.
Superduperman99 - Cardinals over Royals in 6 and 6 Home Runs
dgao - Cardinals over Angels in 6 games. 7 home runs.
Fuji - Royals over Dodgers, 6 games, 8 home runs
Praline - Orioles over Giants 7 homers, 6 games
Mets Cardboard - Orioles over Dodgers, 6 games, 13 home runs
Wilson - Baltimore over San Francisco, 6 games, 10 HR, pimped
And since we have the Giants and Royals in the World Series why not sweeten the pot with a couple cards from each team.
Unfortunately my secret stash is a little short on great Giants and Royals cards, but I did manage to find a couple cool cards. First up is the Steve Holm Auto. Steve didn't have a very long career with the Giants or a very good one, but he does have this auto from 2009 Upper Deck.
I couldn't find any autos for the Royals in my stash, but I did find a nice Mike Sweeney relic from the 2003 Finest set. Sweeny had a nice long career in the Major and spent 12 years with the Royals. Mike ended his career in 2011 by signing a one day contract so he could end his career as a Royal after playing with the Athletics, Mariners and Phillies.
Another fun fact about Mike Sweeny is that I am exactly 2 days older than him.
I also plan on added some cards to the winners favorite team and the same for the door prize winner.
Alright here are the final 5. Good luck guys.

3rd Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web World Series Finalist!! And then there were 7.
Wow I thought the Tigers might have forced a game 7. That was until the 7th inning last night. Either way we now have our World Series teams set. We lost a lot of people in the last round and now have just 7 moving on. And of those 7 noone picked the Red Sox over the Cardinals, but we have two that picked the Cards over the Red Sox. So if the Cards pull it out that will be the first time I've had anyone, let alone two people pick the correct team and the correct opponent. Pretty cool. Here is the line up that we had going into the LCS games.
Greg Zakwin - Dodgers over Oakland in 6 games, 7 HRs
Play at the Plate- Dodgers over Oakland in 5 games with 8 homeruns. PIMP
Richard Nebe Jr - Boston over the Braves in 5 with 7 homers. PIMP

Remember you were playing for that sweet box set of Pinnacle The Naturals and 1990 Topps Coins set. I'll also be throwing in some vinatge packs I have lying around. Vintage being over 20 years old! Ahem yeah that puts them in the junk wax era.
I also found a nice door prize for all who entered.
How's about some vintage!! Real vintage this time. I've got 3 1969 Topps cards to give away. Nobody special and condition is well loved, but still 69 Topps.
Thanks everybody who played and pimped. Next contest post will be the winner announcement.

3rd Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web -Official sign up post
So as I write this I'm about to leave town for a week long work trip. Most of the playoff teams have been decided but there is still one up for grabs and I wanted to get this posted before I left. So here we go. This will be the official contest page, I'll be posting scheduled reminders all week. Since the playoffs are a little screwed up with the one game wild card playoff I'm going to let you wait till those are done and I'll have the sign up open till Saturday October 5th at Noon.
The contest is easy as always I just want you to tell me who's going to win the World Series. But since inevitably more than one person will pick the winning team we need a few tie breakers. So I'd like you to also add who the opponent will be, how many games in the series and how many total home runs for the series, both teams combined.
Your entry should look something like this.
Dodgers over the Red Sox in 6, 14 home runs.
Your choices
American League
Boston Red Sox
Oakland Athletics
Detroit Tigers
Cleveland Indians
Tampa Bay Rays
National League
Atlanta Braves
St. Louis Cardinals
LA Dodgers
Cincinnati Reds
Pittsburgh Pirates
And what do you win????
I already teased with this prize
A sealed 1994 Pinnacle The Naturals boxed set. You will also get this...
I'll also be throwing in some other stuff as well and there will also be a door prize just for signing up. I haven't decided what that will be yet, but I'll find something good. And if you pimp this contest you will receive an extra entry for the door prize. Just leave you prediction and a link to your pimp for your extra entry.
I would say to wait till at least after tomorrows game that'll decide who if Tampa Bay or Texas makes it, but you can wait till after the wild card games are over and even a few of the regular playoff games.
Alrighty good luck everybody and I'll see you in a week.

3rd Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web - Teaser
That's right boys and girls. It's almost that time again. And while I may have been gone all summer long, that doesn't mean I haven't been planning my annual World Series contest. And I have no idea how many people are still reading blogs out there or better yet reading my blog, but we'll have a go.
Most of the divisions have been decided. A few of the wildcard spots are up for grabs still, but barring any one game playoffs for those spots I'm hoping by Sunday the 29th or before the playoff picture is set.
How will it work? Same as always. Out of all the teams in the playoffs, I just want you to tell me who's going to win the World Series. Simple as that. However since inevitably more than one person will pick the winning team, although not always, we have to have some tie breakers. So I also want to tell me who the losing opponent will be, the number of games in the series and number of home runs hit total, that means by both teams, in the series. But more on that later.
What will you win? Well I have a few things to give away. But first thing is this...
A sealed 1994 Pinnacle The Naturals box set. These cards are pretty sweet with Pinnacle Dufex technology. And all your favorite stars from 1994 are in here.
I ended up picking up one of these for myself, mainly for the Frank Thomas card and I've already sent a bunch of the cards out in trade packages, but I managed to find another one I've been keeping just for this contest. I also have other things to add to the prize pile, more on that later on the sign up post. There will also be a door prize again just for signing up and you can get an extra entry into that one for a contest pimp.
So with that said mark your calendar and stay tuned for the official sign up post.
