10th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series contest on the web Official Sign Up post!

I literally can't believe my Brewers snuck into the post season this year.  But I'm not going to complain.  I was wondering if this contest would even happen this year.  But even with a shortened season we are a go of the 10th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web!!

Like year's before I just want you to tell me who's going to win it all.  That's it. Well that's almost it.  Since the odds are good more than one of you will pick the right team we are going to need a few tie breakers. So tell me who the winners face, total games in the series, and to mix it up this year I want to know how many doubles get hit in all games played by both teams.  So your entry should look something like this.

Brewers over Athletics, in 6, 7 doubles.

If for some reason we still have a tie after all that, the winner will be randomly chosen using random.org.

Easy peesy.  Wild Card Series' start Tuesday, so not much time to get this going so I'm going to leave the contest open till the first Divisional Games start on Monday, Oct. 5th, and close the contest about an hour before the start of the first game, whenever that is.  If you're bold and pick a wild card team and they lose, I will let you amend your pick as long as you do it before the entry window closes.

Alright do I have up this year?  Well how about a Topps 2020 card?

This beautiful Mr. Cartoon, Don Mattingly is what's up for grabs.  On top of that I will also include a nice stack of cards of the winners favorite team.  This might include autos, relics, parallels, rookies. It all depends what I've got in stock.

But wait that's not all.  You also have a shot at some goodies just for entering the contest.  As in year's past I'm offering a door prize, filled with the winners favorite team, similar to the grand prize.  Again what that will include just depends on what I have.  Also if you promote the contest on your blog or other social media account I'll give you a second entry into the door prize contest.

Alrighty everybody here are your choices for the 116th World Series.

American League

Tampa Bay Rays

Toronto Blue Jays

Cleveland Indians

New York Yankees

Minnesota Twins

Houston Astros

Oakland Athletics

Chicago White Sox

National League

Los Angeles Dodgers

Milwaukee Brewers

San Diego Padres

St. Louis Cardinals

Chicago Cubs

Miami Marlins

Atlanta Braves

Cincinnati Reds

Good luck everybody!!

Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web 6!! Official Entry Post

Hey Boys and Girls it's that time of year again and while I've been pretty silent on the blog I'm not going to let that stop me from holding my longest running contest.  I can't believe this will be my 6th Annual Super Bowl contest.  Yep 6 big ones.  I'm writing this up as the Pack and Vikings figure out who's going to win the NFL North, but both teams are going to the playoffs so let's get this thing started.  I have some idea of what I'm going to do for prizes, but I'll save that for a later post.

All you have to do to win this contest is tell me who's going to win the Super Bowl.  And as always we'll have a few tie breakers as well.
So tell me who's going to win, who the opponent will be, total points scored in the game (both teams), and how many turnovers (both teams.
So you entry should look like this

Green Bay over New England, 56 points, and 3 turnovers

And as always I'll have a door prize just for signing up and if you promote the contest you'll get an extra entry.

Here are you choices.

AFC
Denver Broncos

5th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web - Mark Your calendars!!

Sure I haven't been posting much lately, but that doesn't mean I'm not still around. Collecting, reading, commenting.  And that sure doesn't mean that I'm going to miss the opportunity to hold the 5th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web.

So regular season play is done on October 4th, the Wildcard games will be played on the 6th and 7th and the Divisional Series will start on the 8th and 9th.  So that means like usual we don't have a lot of time for entries.  Right now the National League picture is pretty much set, but we still have some play in the American League.  That being said if the playoff picture solidifies before the end of the season I'll open the contest up early, and if it goes down to the wire again, which is always fun, I'll leave the contest entry period open till after the Wildcard games.

The contest will be just like years past.  All I want you to do is tell me who's going to win the World Series.  And like always we need  a few tie breakers so I also want you to tell me who the opponent was, total games in the series and total number of home runs hit, by both teams.

Not too hard right?

I know your saying "CB that's great and super easy, but what the heck can I win?"

I'm still working on it.  But rest assured that I'll dig though my bag of goodies and come up with some great stuff.  And like year's past I'll have a door prize just for entering with bonus entry for promoting the contest on your blog or other social media account, only one extra entry though.

Alright mark your calendars we've only got a week to go!!!

CB out.

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web 4!!! Official entry post

Wow seems like the Summer just flew by.  And while I've had a hard time finding time and things to post about it's still contest time.  The end of summer means baseball playoffs and that can only mean one thing, the Collector's Crack 4th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web!!!

Been a wild year in both leagues. My team spent 150 days in first place this year and didn't make the playoffs.

No change in the contest.  Same rules apply.  I just want you to tell me who's going to win the World Series.  But of course more than one person might pick the right team, so we have to have some tie breaks.  So for tie breakers I want you to tell me who the opponent is, how many games in the series, and total home runs hit during the series, both teams.

So your entry should look something like this

Detroit over St Louis, 5 games, 12 HRs.

Pretty straight forward right?  So what will you win?  Well I've been socking away great stuff all year The winner will receive a great prize package,  plus I'll probably throw in a some cards from your favorite team.  I'll post more on the prizes later after I dig them out.

But wait that's not all.  I will be doing a door prize again just for entering everyone is in.  And if you happen to have a blog and want to promote my contest you will receive an extra entry.  The list will be entered into Random.com's list randomizer and randomized 3 times.

Alright well I have to leave town for one more work trip.  I should be back by Oct 6th. I'm opening the contest from now till next Sunday noon Alaska time, 4pm on the East coast.  That being said I know that there are still the one game wild cards and by Sunday there will already been two divisional playoff games, so you're more than welcome to wait till later in the week to make a guess.

Here are the teams to choose from.

American League
Baltimore Orioles
Detroit Tigers
Kansas City Royals
LA Angels
Oakland Athletics

National League
Washington Nationals
St Louis Cardinals
Pittsburgh Pirates
LA Dodgers
San Francisco Giants

So get guessing. Don't forget to leave a link to your blog if you promoted the contest for your extra entry into the door prize.

3rd Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web World Series Finalist!! And then there were 7.

Wow I thought the Tigers might have forced a game 7. That was until the 7th inning last night.  Either way we now have our World Series teams set. We lost a lot of people in the last round and now have just 7 moving on. And of those 7 noone picked the Red Sox over the Cardinals, but we have two that picked the Cards over the Red Sox. So if the Cards pull it out that will be the first time I've had anyone, let alone two people pick the correct team and the correct opponent.  Pretty cool.  Here is the line up that we had going into the LCS games.
Greg Zakwin - Dodgers over Oakland in 6 games, 7 HRs

Play at the Plate- Dodgers over Oakland in 5 games with 8 homeruns. PIMP

Richard Nebe Jr - Boston over the Braves in 5 with 7 homers. PIMP

Remember you were playing for that sweet box set of Pinnacle The Naturals and 1990 Topps Coins set. I'll also be throwing in some vinatge packs I have lying around. Vintage being over 20 years old! Ahem yeah that puts them in the junk wax era.
I also found a nice door prize for all who entered.
How's about some vintage!! Real vintage this time.  I've got 3 1969 Topps cards to give away.  Nobody special and condition is well loved, but still 69 Topps.

Saturday, January 5, 2013

It is on like Donkey Kong and so the 3rd Annual Almost the Easiets Super Bowl Contest on the Web begins.

Wahoooooo! It's go time. I want to thank all the people who pimped the contest as well.  We had a fairly decent turn out. Last year we had 22 entries and this year we had a slight increase with 25.  So I'm pretty pleased.

So here we have the offical entries.  If you see pimp next to it, it means you pimped the contest, if I missed someone please let me know and if I typed your pick in wrong also let me know.

Greg Z - Broncos over Packers, 50 points, 3 TO

Shane P. - Ravens over Falcons , 39 points, 5 TO

Eric L - Broncos over 49ers, 58 points , 3 TO

Adam E - 49ers over Broncos, 48 points , 2 TO

Wilson - Patriots over Seahawks, 63 points, 4 TO (pimp)

hiflew - Falcons over Texans, 41 points , 3 TO

Jeff Wilk - Falcons over Pats, 38 points, 4 TO

Brian Conrad -  Patriots over 49ers, 52 points, 2 TO

CaptKirk42 - Redskins over Texans, 48 points, 3 TO

High Five Man - Broncos over Packers, 43 points, 3 TO

arpsmith- 49ers over Broncos, 36 points, 3 TO

Johngy - Broncos over 49ers, 62 points , 2 TO

Tim Byrd - Broncos over Redskins, 55 points, 6 TO

The Dimwit - Broncos over Packers, 47 points, 2 TO

The Diamond King - Patriots over 49ers, 49 points , 3 TO

Fan of Reds - Texans over Packers, 53 points, 4 TO

Spankee - Packers over Broncos, 40 points, 2 TO

Skroeker - 49ers over Patriots, 45 points, 3 TO (pimp)

Josh D. -  Seahawks over Patriots, 54 points, 1 TO (Dammit Josh I thought a girl actually entered my contest)

Chunter - Patriots over 49ers, 42 points, 4 TO (pimp)

Brads Blog - Patriots over Falcons, 56 points, 3 TO

Robert - Ravens over Packers, 47 points, 3 TO

irondequoit36 - Broncos over Seahawks, 48 points, 3 TO (pimp)

daddyohoho - Patriots over 49ers, 49 points, 2 TO

Richard Nebe Jr - Falcons over Redskins, 35 points, 3 TO

It's interesting once I started putting all this in and looking over the picks a few things stand out.  One that the Broncos have a lot of love here.  Also a Patriot/49er's Super Bowl is the most predicted match up.  And no one chose the Bengals.  At all. Not even to show up.  And if you remember last year, which I'm sure you don't we didn't have anyone guess the correct team. No one picked the scrappy Giants last year.  Here's the official contest winner post from last year.  Who knows, who knows.

Well good luck.  I want to thank everyone for making this the best contest yet, and don't be surprised if the prize pools keep growing as I dig through boxes and teams get eliminated. I love to throw in s few surprises.

Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web 3

It's that time again.  It's NFL playoff time and that means in time for the 3rd Annual Almost the Easiest Super  Bowl Contest on the Web.........

It's easy to play and you could win some cool stuff.

All you have to do is tell me who's going to win the Super Bowl.  That's it.  But since more than one person might actually pick the right team we need a few tie breakers.  So I want you to tell me who the opponent is,  how many total points will be scored in the game and I also want you to tell me how many turnovers will happen.

So your entry should look like this:

Packers over the Patriots, 56 points, 2 TOs

If for some reason there is still a tie we go to random.com to find a winner.

What am I going to win this year CB, you ask?

Well the Grand Prize is .....

both of these 2012 Topps Rookie Premiere Patch cards and some other cards of your favorite team.

Update also added to the Prize pool this!!!

But there will also be a door prize for anyone who enters and if you pimp this contest on your blog you will get an extra door prize entry.  All names will be entered into random.com and the list will be randomized 3 times to find a winner. The door prize will be one or maybe two or three  eTopps card(s) from your favorite team, maybe, I've got a lot of eTopps in hand from about 2003 till they quite making them so chances are I'll have something you like.

So for easy picking here are your choices

AFC
Division Champs
New England Patriots
Baltimore Ravens
Houston Texans
Denver Broncos

Wildcards
Cincinnati Bengals
Indianapolis Colts

NFC
Division Champs

Winning is like Christmas

First off Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone.

I was surprised to get an email from Sam over at the Daily Dimwit that I had won his 800th post contest. It was a simple contest, which are the best kind, shameless plug, the 3rd Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl contest on the web is only a week away.  All I had to do for Sam's contest was tell him one of my favorite blogs and then post a link to something, your blog, photobucket, ect.  I chose to represent a non-sports card blog and recommended The Bloggess.

Anyways Sam informed me that I had won the contest and asked if there was anything I'd like that he had highlighted on his blog.  Well I went back a few months and asked if he'd let me have a 2012 Triple Threads Reggie Jackson Black parallel card I had seen or some random Brewers would be fine too.

Well I got my winnings just before Christmas and lets just say it was a great prize pack.

He sent along the Reggie I asked for.  And that probably would have been enough.

But also nestled in the package was this card

A 1991 Upper Deck Dan Plesac autographed card and this...

a 2008 Taylor Green Rookie bat card...
numbered to 500!  But wait there was also this...

2011 Bowman Sterling Jed Bradley Prospects Autograph card and this...
A 2009 Upper Deck A Piece of History Mat Gamel rookie autograph card #d to 99!

And while autos are awesome it was this last card that made me take notice.

2004 Fleer Platinum Richie Sexson patch card.  Sure this labels Richie as a Diamondback, but he's featured in a Brewers uni and the patch is obviously a piece from a Brewers jersey. But lets have Fleer prove it.

Man remember when card companies put these kind of COA's on the backs of cards?  "The card you've just received contains a piece of a jersey patch, taken from an authentic game worn Brewers jersey worn by Richie Sexson of the Arizona Diamondbacks"!! I mean yes Richie's now with Arizona, but here is a kick ass piece of jersey from one of his old Brewers jerseys.

Anyways it was a great prize pack and I'm really happy to be able to add all these cards to my collection.  Thanks Sam!!

Only 2 weeks left till The Third Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web!!!!!

Wow that season went by really fast.  And despite the rocky start with the NFL refs lockout it seems that we had a fairly good season.  Got to see some amazing rookie standouts and of course my team clinching their division in week 15 was pretty nice too.

So just like in past years it'll be pretty simple.  All I want you to do is pick who's going to win the Super Bowl.  But of course there's always the possibility that two people will the same team so we need the tie breakers.  You'll need to pick the opponent and total number of combine points scored in the game.  And if for some reason that still doesn't decide it, I'll use the random.com, but we've never had to go that far and I don't expect to have to this year either.  I know your saying CB this is a contest right? What are the prizes?  I don't know yet.  But we'll have a great grand prize and of course a door prize for all those you participate and pimp the contest.  I'll be posting the official contest link after next Sunday and you should have a good week to get your guess in.
