12th Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web - Official Entries

Sorry for the delay.  Been a busy couple days and I've got a busy couple more.  But wow what an exciting ending to the Bengals-Raiders game.  The Patriots-Bills not so much.  But here we are the start of my 12th yes, 12th Annual contest I want to thank everyone who entered.  We had 51 people put picks in this year!  I'm pretty sure that's an all time record for any of my contests so thank you for those that helped spread the word.  And it looks like my Packers are heavy favorites.  One hiccup we have 3 entries that got submitted by an unknown persons.  I'm assuming this is because they either weren't logged in to Blogger or don't have an account and I tried to get the word out, and a lot of people were really great about making sure their twitter or TCDb handles were included.  So if one of these three unknown entries is yours please let me know ASAP, as they will likely be removed after Wildcard weekend if I can't put a name to the entry.  Also please look over your entry.  I copied the entries over from the official sign up post, but you never know.

10th Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web - Official Entries

Wow what a last minute surge.  Looks like we ended up with 30 entries this year.  I probably didn't state it very well in my original post, but this year I'm not going to try and find a general prize for the winner and door prize, instead I'm just going to put together a nice prize package that caters to the winners.  Since I don't know who's going to win I'm not sure what will be included but rest assured it'll be good.  The feedback I've gotten from past winners is that that part of the prize was the best. So instead of dumping a huge lot of Boomer Esiason cards someone, and if you want a huge lot of Esiason cards let me know, I'll gift the winner with a nice prize package that may include autos and relics, depends on what I have laying around.

As I'm writing this I just watched the Bills/Texans game finish in overtime and holy moly what a great game.  Let's hope the rest of the playoffs are as entertaining.  Ok here are the official entries, copied over directly from the official sign-up post.  I didn't see anyone mention that they promoted the contest, shame on you guys, but if you did and forgot to add a comment, add a comment to this post with a link to the post, tweet, mention, ect.

8th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web - Official Entry Post

Sorry for the delay.  First I want to say thank you to all 39 people who entered the contest!!  I've been neglecting this blog all year and it seems I have less and less I want to try and find time to blog about.  But I do still contribute pretty regularly to A Pack A Day and post fairly frequently on my Robin Yount blog.  Ahem enough excuses, what I'm trying to say is that it's a great turn out since I don't blog here much anymore.  I've copied over your entries from the official entry post, so if you entered and I screwed up and you're missing let me know.  Also let me know if you shared or promoted the contest and forgot to let me know on your entry.  If you have a PIMP by your name it means you helped spread the word.  I also have to apologize.  In contests past I've let people who got in before the wild card games and one of their teams didn't make it update their picks.  I meant to do that this year, but forgot to mention it.  That being said if anyone would like to pick a team other than Chicago or the A's let me know by Monday!  You can't however change anything else about your pick.  Leave a comment on this post, please.

7th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web Official Sign Up Post!!!!

I'll be honest I can count the number of baseball games I've gotten to see this year on one hand, but I've been following my Brewers and reading the sports page on Yahoo pretty regularly.  And even though I've been very absent from my blogs I'm not going to miss putting on my World Series contest.  I'm hoping for a great turn out.  I'll be posting this on Twitter and the Trading Card Collector's Society page on Facebook and over at the forums at Trading Card Database and any place else I can think of..

So what do you have to do?  Just tell me who's going to win the World Series.  That's it.  But I'm sure more than one of you will pick the right team, so we have to have a couple tie breakers thrown in.  So this year, like years past,  I'd like you to tell me who the opponent will be, how many games the series will go, and how many home runs will be hit, in total both teams, for the series.

Your entry should look something like this.

Nationals over the Yankees, 5 games, 12 HRs.

What will you win?  I've got a couple great cards to giveaway. First is this 2015 Topps Tier One Sean Doolittle autograph #d to 349, hard signed.  And a great 2017 Topps Museum Collection Gregory Planco Meaningful Materials Patch card #d to 50!  Plus the winner will also get a nice stack of their favorite team(s), which may include additional autos, relics, or inserts.  All depends what I can find in the stacks.

And as always there will be door prize for all those that enter.  And if you promote the contest, either on your blog, twitter feed, facebook, etc. you will get an extra entry.  Just one extra though.  But be sure to put a link to your pimp in the comments so I can verify.
The door prize is this vintage 2004 Edwin Jackson Future Phenoms relic.

Alright here are your choices:
American League
Boston Red Sox
New York Yankees
Cleveland Indians
Minnesota Twins
Houston Astros

National League
Washington Nationals
Chicago Cubs
LA Dodgers
Arizona Diamondbacks
Colorado Rockies

Since my Brewers lost to the Cardinals tonight the stage is set.  So you have from right now until, let's say next Sunday, Oct. 8th, Noon Alaska Time, 4pm EST.  That'll mean we'll be knee deep in the Divisional Series', so if you make a guess and you pick a Wildcard team and they don't make it.  I'll let you change your pick as long as it's before the close of the contest.

This post will constitute the official entries page so make sure you comment on this post and not one of my reminders, which I will be posting all week long.  And please make sure you have some way to be contacted connected to your Blogger entry.  I've had winners in the past I was never able to get a hold or and who never contacted me.  But just one.

OK

7th Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web Official Entries Post

And here we goooooooooooooooooooooo......

Wow what a great response.  If my count is right we had almost 50 entries this year, 47 actually.  And I want to thank everyone who promoted the contest too.  I did make a much more concerted effort to promote my contest myself on facebook, twitter, and the trading card database.  I will ask that if you entered and are reading this make sure you have contact information on your blogger account please.

It's obvious that the general consensus is a Patriots - Cowboys match up with the Patriots the overall favorite, but I'm still hopeful for my Packers.  And there are a lot of teams with no picks what so ever so that could be a spoiler, but not likely.

Here are your official picks. I copied them straight over so there shouldn't be any mistakes, but if you see one let me know.

I'll be posting additions to the prize pool over the coming weeks.  But first up is a nice auto relic combo lot of Super Bowl champion Adrian Arrington, I think he got a ring anyways, we was on the Saints Superbowl team, though I don't think he played.  Adrian is or was the lead plantiff of a law suit against the NCAA in a concussion lawsuit.  He is currently not playing. But still two cool cards.  That Prestigious Pros is numbered to 25!  And there will be more.

The Cubs were by and far the most picked team, oddly enough I too picked the Cubs to win.  If for some reason we can't find a winner with all the tie breakers all the names of those who guessed correctly, I will randomly pick a winner at Random.com by randomizing the list 3 times, just like how we pick a door prize winner.

6th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series on the Web Official Contest Sign Up!!!

It's here, it's time!  The regular season is over and we are off to the sweet sweet time in baseball.  Wild Card games start tomorrow, unlike the NFL that has a nice week off between the end of the regular season and playoffs, baseball jumps right in.  Even so I'm going to keep the contest open till Saturday, Oct 8th,  Noon Alaska time or 4pm EST.  I will also allow anyone who is brave enough to pick a wild card team and they lose before the entry period closes to pick another team.

The contest is the same as always and easy.  Just tell me who is going to win this year's World Series.  But of course we have to have a few tie breakers.  So I also want to know who you think their opponent will be, how many games the series will go, and total home runs for the whole series.

So you entry should look something like this

Cubs over Indians, 5 games, 12 HRs.

Here are your choices
American League
Boston Red Sox
Cleveland Indians
Texas Rangers
Toronto Blue Jays
Baltimore Orioles

National League
Washington Nationals
Chicago Cubs
LA Dodgers
NY Mets
San Francisco Giants

What's the prize you ask.  You'll get a nice assortment of cards from your favorite team and anything else I can find to throw in.  Unfortunately most of my collection is now in a storage unit, since we are trying to sell our house, so I can't really say what will be in the prize package.

Like always there will be a door prize winner just for playing.  I'll randomize the list of entries 3 times and the guy or gal at the top gets the prize, also TBD.

And don't forget to pimp and promote this contest, by any means: your blog, twitter, snapchat, instagram, whatever you like, it'll get you a second entry into the door prize contest.  Just leave me a link to the pimp.

Alright boys and girls time to get predicting.  Good Luck!!

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web 5 - Official Entry post

Well it took till the last game of the season to have all the pieces in place.  With wildcard games starting Tuesday that doesn't leave too much time to do a sign up, but I'm going to leave the sign up open till Friday night, lets say 8pm Alaska time.  That'll be midnight on the East Coast.

So are we going to mix the contest up for the 5th Annual offering?  Nope.  This is and always will be almost the easiest contest on the web and all I want you to tell me is who's going to win?

Of course some of you might pick the same team so we need a few tie breakers.  So I also want you to tell me who the opponent will be, how many games in the series, and how many total home runs will be scored, both teams.

So your entry should look something like this.

Cubs over Yankees, 7 games, 9 home runs.

The tie breakers are ranked in that order, opponent, games, HRs.

So what are you playing for?  Well I'm still trying to figure that out and pull stuff out.  To make matters worse the next two weeks are going to be very busy for me.  So trust me that I'll put together a nice prize package and the winner will also get some cards of their favorite team and/or players.

Let's not forget, there will also be a door prize just for signing up.  I'll enter all the entries into Random.org and randomize the list 3 times.  Person at the top gets the prize.  Plus like always if you promote this contest on your blog or other social media you'll get an extra entry into the door prize drawing.  Just leave a link to the pimp so I know you did it.

I would also like to ask if you sign up for the contest you have some way of me getting in contact with you. ie an email attached to you profile.  Believe it or not I've had prizes go unclaimed before.

Alright here are you choices.

American League
Toronto Blue Jays
Kansas City Royals
Texas Rangers
New York Yankees
Houston Astros

National League
New York Mets
St. Louis Cardinals
LA Dodgers
Chicago Cubs
Pittsburgh Pirates

I'll be posting reminders all week.  Alright good luck and thanks for playing.

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web Official Entries Post

Wow I'm way behind. I blame my last work trip.  Being stuck in a remote Alaska village for a week didn't help me get this contest back on track.

First I want to thank everyone who entered. By my count we had 43!! That's a great turn out and probably my best yet, especially when I didn't even tell you what you could win.  Well on that note, I still haven't found time to dig out the prizes, so you'll have to wait another day or so.  Also being so far behind we're already on the League Championships and sadly when I was working up this post noticed that most of the field is already gone.  I was kind of pulling for the Dodgers, but what can you do those Cardinals are a comeback team.

OK so this post will serve as the official entries post. If you notice I made a mistake let me know, I did just cut and pasted your entries, so they should be right. Also if you promoted the contest and don't see a pimped by your entry let me know so you get your bonus entry into the door prize drawing.

Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web Official Entries

It's go time!!

The polls are closed, your horses have been chosen.

I want to thank everybody who entered and for everybody you pimped the contest and welcome to the 5 new followers.  I have to say this has boosted traffic to the site tremendously which is great.
Don't forget I'm going to be having another contest for the 200th post which is long gone now and for my 10,000th hit which is coming up, I still need to work something out for both of those but for now lets enjoy the playoffs.

I'm not sure if the prize is what everybody wanted I know that no one likes redemptions but free cards are free cards even if you have to wait.  I will be updating this list as teams get eliminated, but you are all in the running for the bonus prize. Which I still haven't figured out yet but I'll come up with something.

Looks like most people took the obvious favorite and for good reason.  I'm still pulling for the Pack.

Here are the picks.  The numbers by your name are the order in which you posted and will be your numbers for the bonus prize drawing.

Cynicalbuddha-  Packers over the Colts 24-14, yeah I'm dreaming and I'm not even playing

1 .Spankee:  EAGLES over the Pats 27-24
2.  Adam E:  STEELERS over Bears 17-6
3. BA Benny: SAINTS over Pats 38-31
4 .cubsfan731: PATRIOTS over Falcons 23-14
5. Captain Canuck: PATRIOTS over Falcons 42-31
6 .Mariner1: SAINTS over Steelers 27-17
7. Play at the Plate: PATRIOTS over Eagles 38-21
8. Mark: PACKERS over Patriots 24-17
9. Fuji: PATRIOTS over  Packers 24-17
10. seemahn: FALCONS over Patriots 28-24
11. Community Gum: PATRIOTS over Falcons 31-17
12. dawgbones: EAGLES over Steelers 27-17
13. Offy: PATRIOTS over the Falcons 31-14
14. Kev2380: BEARS over Patriots 24-20
15. Steve D: PATRIOTS over Saints 35-27
16. Milwaukee Southpaw: FALCONS over Steelers 27-24
17. Colby (Flywheels): STEELERS over Falcons 24-17
18. Wicked Ortega: RAVENS over Patriots 21-17
19. mike: BEARS over Steelers 20-14
20. Nathan: COLTS over Saints 24-17
21. steve: PATRIOTS over Packers 24-17
22. dayf: FALCONS over Colts 30-28

Here are the official winning and tie break rules.  If you picked the winning team and only you, you win, of course.  If you picked the winning team and so did 18 other people we move to if you picked the right opponent.  If you were the only one who did you win, of course.  If you picked the winning team and the right opponent and 5 other people did we move to the final score.  First it will be winning team score.  Closet wins.  If more than one person picked the closest or right score we move to the opponent score.  If by some chance there are 2 people who pick the exact same thing and we have no winner I will put your names in a RNG(Random Number Generator) and then we will have a winner. I'm fairly sure that won't happen, but just in case.  Seems the major prediction is the Super Bowl will be Patriots and the Falcons.  I think that would be a good match up, not as good as say, oh the Packer and Colts but I'm a dreamer, plus by fiances favorite team is the Colts.
