Well it took till the last game of the season to have all the pieces in place. With wildcard games starting Tuesday that doesn't leave too much time to do a sign up, but I'm going to leave the sign up open till Friday night, lets say 8pm Alaska time. That'll be midnight on the East Coast.
So are we going to mix the contest up for the 5th Annual offering? Nope. This is and always will be almost the easiest contest on the web and all I want you to tell me is who's going to win?
Of course some of you might pick the same team so we need a few tie breakers. So I also want you to tell me who the opponent will be, how many games in the series, and how many total home runs will be scored, both teams.
So your entry should look something like this.
Cubs over Yankees, 7 games, 9 home runs.
The tie breakers are ranked in that order, opponent, games, HRs.
So what are you playing for? Well I'm still trying to figure that out and pull stuff out. To make matters worse the next two weeks are going to be very busy for me. So trust me that I'll put together a nice prize package and the winner will also get some cards of their favorite team and/or players.
Let's not forget, there will also be a door prize just for signing up. I'll enter all the entries into Random.org and randomize the list 3 times. Person at the top gets the prize. Plus like always if you promote this contest on your blog or other social media you'll get an extra entry into the door prize drawing. Just leave a link to the pimp so I know you did it.
I would also like to ask if you sign up for the contest you have some way of me getting in contact with you. ie an email attached to you profile. Believe it or not I've had prizes go unclaimed before.
Alright here are you choices.
American League
Toronto Blue Jays
Kansas City Royals
Texas Rangers
New York Yankees
Houston Astros
National League
New York Mets
St. Louis Cardinals
LA Dodgers
Chicago Cubs
Pittsburgh Pirates
I'll be posting reminders all week. Alright good luck and thanks for playing.

5th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web - Mark Your calendars!!
Sure I haven't been posting much lately, but that doesn't mean I'm not still around. Collecting, reading, commenting. And that sure doesn't mean that I'm going to miss the opportunity to hold the 5th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web.
So regular season play is done on October 4th, the Wildcard games will be played on the 6th and 7th and the Divisional Series will start on the 8th and 9th. So that means like usual we don't have a lot of time for entries. Right now the National League picture is pretty much set, but we still have some play in the American League. That being said if the playoff picture solidifies before the end of the season I'll open the contest up early, and if it goes down to the wire again, which is always fun, I'll leave the contest entry period open till after the Wildcard games.
The contest will be just like years past. All I want you to do is tell me who's going to win the World Series. And like always we need a few tie breakers so I also want you to tell me who the opponent was, total games in the series and total number of home runs hit, by both teams.
Not too hard right?
I know your saying "CB that's great and super easy, but what the heck can I win?"
I'm still working on it. But rest assured that I'll dig though my bag of goodies and come up with some great stuff. And like year's past I'll have a door prize just for entering with bonus entry for promoting the contest on your blog or other social media account, only one extra entry though.
Alright mark your calendars we've only got a week to go!!!

3rd Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web - Teaser
That's right boys and girls. It's almost that time again. And while I may have been gone all summer long, that doesn't mean I haven't been planning my annual World Series contest. And I have no idea how many people are still reading blogs out there or better yet reading my blog, but we'll have a go.
Most of the divisions have been decided. A few of the wildcard spots are up for grabs still, but barring any one game playoffs for those spots I'm hoping by Sunday the 29th or before the playoff picture is set.
How will it work? Same as always. Out of all the teams in the playoffs, I just want you to tell me who's going to win the World Series. Simple as that. However since inevitably more than one person will pick the winning team, although not always, we have to have some tie breakers. So I also want to tell me who the losing opponent will be, the number of games in the series and number of home runs hit total, that means by both teams, in the series. But more on that later.
What will you win? Well I have a few things to give away. But first thing is this...
A sealed 1994 Pinnacle The Naturals box set. These cards are pretty sweet with Pinnacle Dufex technology. And all your favorite stars from 1994 are in here.
I ended up picking up one of these for myself, mainly for the Frank Thomas card and I've already sent a bunch of the cards out in trade packages, but I managed to find another one I've been keeping just for this contest. I also have other things to add to the prize pile, more on that later on the sign up post. There will also be a door prize again just for signing up and you can get an extra entry into that one for a contest pimp.
So with that said mark your calendar and stay tuned for the official sign up post.

2nd Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web we have a winner.
Congrats to Adam over at APRSmith's Sportscard Obsession. He correctly chose the Giants to win it all.

The Brooklyn Met - Reds over As in 7, 12 with homers.
DHoff - Tigers over Reds in 7, with 11 homers.
Milwaukee Southpaw - Reds over Tigers in 6, 16 homers
arpsmith - Giants over Yankees in 6, 7 homers

High Five Man - A's over the Reds in 7; 21 homers

BA Benny - Yankees over Reds in 6 with 12 HR's
Shane - Nats over Tigers, in 6, 13HR's
Wilson - Yankees over Nationals in 7, 10 HR
Adam wins the stack of Golden Giveaway codes. I think I ended up with 12 or 13 of them.
Now onto the door prize. What is it you ask? Well to be honest I was going to dig something out, but got lazy and then left the state, so the door prize will be an assortment of 1991 Score baseball! Just kidding, the winner gets a small stack of there favorite team or help with their need list if I can.
So I randomized the list 3 times and here is your winner.
Tony the Milwaukee Southpaw over at the Common (Card) Man As luck would have it we like the same team and I have tons of extras, but you'll be getting an email from me soon to see if there are any set needs I can help out with too and maybe a new Griffey to add to your supercollection.
Thanks to all twelve of my contestants. I know it was short notice on the contest and there were at least of few others that saw the post too late, but I will be holding my 3rd Almost the easiest Super Bowl contest on the web in January.

1st Annual World Series Contest Rehash
I know I already made a hasty post on Friday night after the Cardinals won the 107th World Series, but lets rehash the whole thing for posterity and for something to do.
OK. Well we had a fairly good turn out, not as good as I'd had hoped, but 21 ain't too bad. I suppose if I'd had made you all pimp it for extra entries or something I might have gotten more, but I don't care. I simply asked which team would win the World Series. Then I asked for the opponent, number of games in the series and total home runs for the series (both teams combined) for tie breakers. And like I said before we didn't need to go to the tie breakers because only one intrepid blogger picked the right team.
Here's what you were playing for
Five nice, but not spectacular, vintage 1960 Topps Baseball cards and a stack of cards from your favorite team.
Here are the 21 original entries if you don't remember what you picked.
The Lost Collector - Yankees over Phillies in 6. 8 Homers.
Night owl - Rangers over Brewers in 6. 7 Homers.
Colbey - Cardinals over Tigers in 5. 7 Homers
And of course only Colbey from Cardboard Collections picked the right team.
I just got the last address I need from Brian over at Play at the Plate. I decided to give the other two finalists a nice stack of their favorite team as well. So all the prizes should go out tomorrow or Wednesday.
Thanks again everybody who participated and congrats to Colbey.

Winner Winner chicken Dinner!!! the Almost easiest World Series Contest on the Web has a winner!!!
It came down to 7 games. We had 3 make it to the finals. I asked you who would win. Then asked for the opponent, number of games in the series and the total number of home runs (combine for both teams).
Well it didn't come to any of the tie breakers after all and Colbey from Cardboard Collections takes it all!!! Congrats Colbey I have those vintage cards coming your way and a nice stack of Braves cards and probably a few Panthers as well. I have the Night Owl's address but if Play at the Plate will shoot me an email with his address I have some conciliation prizes for you guys.
I'm kinda bummed the Rangers didn't pull it out, but I'm even more bummed my Brewers didn't.
So thanks to everybody who played and stay tuned for my next contest.

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web ain't over yet!!
Woh boy. I really thought I'd be announcing the winner of my first annual World Series contest. Man that was a crazy game 6. I really can't wait for tonight. I mean not being invested in either team lets me just enjoy the game and even though I'm rooting for the Rangers, that Cardinals double comeback in extra innings win was pretty awesome. That being said I'll announce the winner of the contest this weekend sometime. I've got a Halloween party to recover from Sunday. And my Packers are on their bye weeks so I'll be sleeping in. Football starts at 9 sharp in the last frontier.
So here are our three finalist again. If the Rangers win it's going to come down to HR's between the Night Owl and Play at the Plate and at last count I do believe there were 14 total HR's. I could be wrong, I'll look up the final stats after the game tonight. But with that being said it's pretty much a two person team between Colbey and Play at the Plate. Sorry Night owl. I've already started gathering some Rangers and Braves cards up for the possible winners and I have a feeling I'll be sending out goodies to all three of our finalists. So thanks for playing, thanks for reading and go Brewers, damn.
Our Finalist and their guesses
Play at the Plate - Rangers over Phillies in 6. 13 Homers.
Night owl - Rangers over Brewers in 6. 7 Homers.
Colbey - Cardinals over Tigers in 5. 7 Homers

And then there were 3 - Almost the Easiest World Series Contest Update
I am so unbelievably pissed right now on how bad the Brewers went out. Not only tonight's game but the last game in St. Louis. Ah, breath. But with the Red Birds taking the NLCS we are down to 3 contestants and there will be a winner!!!!
Here are the final three. Congrats guys. While no one will win with the first tie breaker and if the Rangers take it we have to go to total homers and if the Cards keep it up Colbey will take it all!!
Play at the Plate - Rangers over Phillies in 6. 13 Homers.
Night owl - Rangers over Brewers in 6. 7 Homers.
Colbey - Cardinals over Tigers in 5. 7 Homers
With that said on to the World Series!!!!!

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web Championship round.
I know I already posted after the Division Series were decided but this is just the list of contestants that are still in it to win it. Sadly no one chose the Brewers to take it all and who knows that might come into play.
Here are you Championship Series' finalists. Should know near the end of this week who's going to the big one.
Play at the Plate - Rangers over Phillies in 6. 13 Homers.
Sports Card Blog - Tigers over Brewers in 6. 13 Homers.
Eric L. - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 15 Homers.
Dfwbuck2 - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 11 Homers.
Night owl - Rangers over Brewers in 6. 7 Homers.
Potch - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 9 Homers.
Robert - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 11 Homers
Colbey - Cardinals over Tigers in 5. 7 Homers
AdamE - Tigers over Phillies in 5. 7 Homers.
Of course there are a few guess with opponents out of the running, but we'll see if that comes into play or not.
Remember up for grabs are these bad boys.
Nobody spectacular but vintage is vintage. And a nice healthy stack of cards from the winners favorite team, just hope it's not the Met's just traded a huge stack of those away.
And the blog just passed it's two year anniversary hard to believe I started this little blog so long ago and I still like to blog. Older than some, and younger than the best. I'm planning a really hard trivia contest modeled after the one they hold at my Alma Mater, UW-Stevens Point, every year. Touted as the World's Largest Trivia Contest. More on that later. I figure I'll wait till the World Series Contest is over and it'll allow me time to start compiling questions. There will be both sports and non-sports questions and this will be a by all means necessary contest, meaning you can use whatever means you need to to find the answer. Internet, encyclopedia, you brain, or even your mom. There will be all sorts of goodies up for grabs and I'll have to find a really good prize for the winner.
Alright that's it for now.

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web update.
Wow what a playoff!! And holy crap did losing the Phillies and Yankees pare down those still in the running. Here we have the whole list, guesses in red are out, I've left players that still have a team in the ALCS and NLCS, but who's opponent is out. Mainly because this contest asked who was going to win. The opponent, total games in the World Series and total homers are all tie breakers.
Play at the Plate - Rangers over Phillies in 6. 13 Homers.
Sports Card Blog - Tigers over Brewers in 6. 13 Homers.
Eric L. - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 15 Homers.
The Lost Collector - Yankees over Phillies in 6. 8 Homers.

Colbey - Cardinals over Tigers in 5. 7 Homers
Steve D. - Phillies over Yankees in 5. 6 Homers
AdamE - Tigers over Phillies in 5. 7 Homers.
So out of 21 entries we are down to 9. The Phillies were the definite favorites from this crowd.
