Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web Championship round.

I know I already posted after the Division Series were decided but this is just the list of contestants that are still in it to win it.  Sadly no one chose the Brewers to take it all and who knows that might come into play.

Here are you Championship Series' finalists.  Should know near the end of this week who's going to the big one.

Play at the Plate - Rangers over Phillies in 6. 13 Homers.
Sports Card Blog - Tigers over Brewers in 6. 13 Homers.
Eric L. - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 15 Homers.
Dfwbuck2 - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 11 Homers.
Night owl - Rangers over Brewers in 6. 7 Homers.
Potch - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 9 Homers.
Robert - Tigers over Phillies in 7. 11 Homers
Colbey - Cardinals over Tigers in 5. 7 Homers
AdamE - Tigers over Phillies in 5. 7 Homers.

Of course there are a few guess with opponents out of the running, but we'll see if that comes into play or not.
Remember up for grabs are these bad boys.
Nobody spectacular but vintage is vintage.  And a nice healthy stack of cards from the winners favorite team, just hope it's not the Met's just traded a huge stack of those away.

And the blog just passed it's two year anniversary hard to believe I started this little blog so long ago and I still like to blog.  Older than some, and younger than the best.  I'm planning a really hard trivia contest modeled after the one they hold at my Alma Mater, UW-Stevens Point, every year.  Touted as the World's Largest Trivia Contest.  More on that later.  I figure I'll wait till the World Series Contest is over and it'll allow me time to start compiling questions.  There will be both sports and non-sports questions and this will be a by all means necessary contest, meaning you can use whatever means you need to to find the answer. Internet, encyclopedia, you brain, or even your mom.  There will be all sorts of goodies up for grabs and I'll have to find a really good prize for the winner.

Alright that's it for now.

Almost the easiest World Series contest contestants!!

Wahoooo.  What a great weekend for sports.  What a great lead in to the playoffs and what a great couple of first games.  We got 21 people that entered my contest.  I'm really pleased with that.  I also gained one more follow for an even 70.  I also want to thank anyone who pimped the contest.

I was thinking what to do for prizes.  At first I thought about giving away the Prime 9 set I won at trade night last month, but that's was the lady's over at A Cardboard Problem are giving away, so I decided that vintage would be the way to go.

So the winner will receive these five 1960 Topps Baseball cards.  I've had these sitting around for awhile. I don't even remember where I picked these up.   The winner will also get a nice healthy stack of cards from their favorite team.  There will be base, inserts, parallels, who knows maybe I might even throw in a relic or auto if I have one.

So here are the 21 entries and guesses.  I'll update the list after teams are eliminated.

Almost the easiest World Series contest of the Web!!!!

Since my Super Bowl contest was so much fun, I figured I'd copy the premise and do a World Series contest.

Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web Web Web Web Web.

The contest simple:  Tell me who is going to win the World Series.  And then add who the opponent is and how many games in the series for tie breakers.  And since you people still might tie, tell me how many home runs in the entire series, both teams combine total.  So your entry should look something like this.

Brewers defeat Yankees in 5, 14 home runs.  Yeah it's a pipe dream.

The Contestants

National League:
Philadelphia Phillies (NL East Champs)
Milwaukee Brewers (NL Central Champs)
Arizona Diamondbacks (NL West Champs)
St. Louis Cardinals (NL Wildcard)

American League:
New York Yankees (AL East Champs)
Detroit Tigers (AL Central Champs)
Texas Rangers (AL West Champs)
Tampa Bay Rays (AL Wildcard)

The Prizes:

I'm not sure yet, but it'll be good and on top of what ever I come up with I throw in a bunch of cards from the team of your choice.  These will include, base, inserts, parallels, maybe in even a relic.

You have until October 2nd.  I was going to make the deadline Sept 30 the start of the playoffs but seeing as the Wildcard race went up to the last day of the regular season, I figure I'll give you a few extra days.  I'll post the official entries Monday sometime.

You won't get anymore entries if you pimp or you decided to follow (if you're not already), but both are appreciated.

I also plan on having a big Trivia contest with some great prizes after this to celebrate my second anniversary of the blog, so stay tuned for that.
