Wow I can't believe it's already over.  I had a nice afternoon enjoying the game at home.  I really had no horse in the race so I was really just hoping for a great competitive game (I might have been leaning on rooting for the Bengals just a little).  And boy did we get that!  It was a lot lower scoring than a lot of you predicted, but how can you complain when the game was so close the entire way and really came down to the last drive.  I'm glad Stafford and Donald get rings and wow Kupp was impressive, but Burrow, Mixon, and Higgins were equally fun to watch.  If the Bengals can keep that team intact they will be ruling the AFC North, heck maybe all of the AFC for some time.  

Ahem, let's get down to what you all are here for.  We had 4 teams going into the finals.  Two had who picked the Bengals and two for the Rams.  No one correctly predicted the opponent so we have to move to total points and boy did our two correct picks way over predict that!  But by the margin of just one point CaptKirk42 is our grand prize winner!!!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen my 11th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web is over and we have a winner, we have a Braves fan winner!!  We only had two people correctly guess the Braves would win the World Series, go figure they were both Braves fans.  But Colbey, aka Flywheels, correctly guessed that the Braves would beat the Astros.  As a matter of fact, as I stated last post, we had two people correctly guess the match-up.  Which I think is a first. After looking at Colbey's entry looks like he forgot to include the games in the series, but it doesn't matter.

Well, well, well.  I have to say I'm at a loss for words.  That was a completely unexpected outcome.  While I have a few issues with some of the officiating and calls, that was a pretty impressive feat by the Bucs and Tom Brady.  I really don't think anyone expected Kansas City to be held to under 10 points and the team didn't score a touchdown.  We had thirteen players going into Super Bowl Sunday and the overwhelming majority favoring the Chiefs, but three intrepid contestants picked the Bucs to take it all.  None of the three that chose Tampa Bay correctly picked the opponent, so we have to move to total points and boy did everyone think this would be a fairly high scoring game.  In the end the perfect pick would have been

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner 10th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web Grand Prize Winner has been crowned!!

 

We have a winner!! Not only that but we have a very decisive winner.  In the end we had 12 people correctly pick the winner of this year's World Series.  That most definitely has to be a record in the 10 year history of this contest, but I don't keep those kind of stats.  Out of those 12 we had two entries that correctly picked the match up between the Dodgers and the Ray.  But we only had one guy pick the correct games in the series and so the winner is......drum roll please...... Chris aka Nachos Grande!!.  Not only did Chris get the Winner, the opponent, the number of games in the series, he was only one off the total number of doubles in the series.  

A perfect entry would have been Dodgers over Rays in 6, 17 Doubles.  Chris came pretty damn close.  So congrats Chris who wins the lovely Mr. Cartoon Don Mattingly Project 2020 cards and also a nice stack of his Reds.

Sorry this has taken a couple days to post.  I was knocked sideways by a cold Saturday evening and I'm still kind of reeling.  Anyways we have a winner to the 9th Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web. I was able to take enough cold medicine to make it though the game, but honestly I probably would have been better off sleeping. Not the worst Super Bowl I've seen, but pretty close, plus the commercials were boring too.

Wow what a great series.  As someone who had no horse in the race it was fun to kick back and watch the show.  I really didn't care who won, I was pulling for the Astros a little simply because this would be there first World Series win in franchise history, but honestly the two best teams in baseball duking it out what could be better?.  And that game 5! 

In the end we had six participants correctly guess that the Astros would win it all.  Out of those six we had 3 that correctly guessed the match up, but only one who guessed it would go 7 games.  No one came close to guessing what a slug fest this would be, but in the end the Sportzcommish came out on top!!

Well Then - The 7th Annual Almost the Easiest Super Bowl Contest on the Web comes to a close

Ahem.  Well I thought the Falcons had this thing wrapped up in the first half, but let that be a lesson to you.  It's funny I have a female friend that lives in Houston, but doesn't know anything about football.  She asked at the half if 21 points was a lot.  I responded by telling her, yes 21 points was a lot, but not against Tom Brady.  I'm glad that the Pats made it competitive in the end.  To me it seems like after the first half the Falcons were playing not to lose.  Which is way different than playing to win.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!! 6th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web concludes!

Wow!  All I can say is Wow.  That was an incredible series! And that game seven, I mean that's what this game is about.  I really had no horse in the race, but seeing as my wife and her family are all Cubs fans I was pulling for the Cubs.  You may remember my pick, as the template, I also correctly picked the Cubs to win and their opponent.

My contests are simple all I want you to do was tell me who was going to win and 14 of you did that. And that's exactly why we have the tie breakers, because 3 of you correctly guess that the Cubs would beat the Indians.  And that is why I have more than one tie breaker!

So with that going into last night's game we actually had the contest down to two picks:

I picked this up from Don's Sportcards here in Anchorage a while back for a good deal and had thought about keeping it, but with the Indians in the World Series thought this would make a great prize.  Of course it would have made a better prize if they had won.  Gavin also will get a nice stack of cardboard depending on what I can find from his want list or maybe just some random autos and relics.  Congrats Gavin great job on the pick!

For the door prize I have an equally cool card.  I doubt it'll be one the person who wins this collects, but another cool pick up I couldn't pass up for the price.

It's a 2016 Topps Tribute Chris Archer Stamp of Approval Jumbo relic numbered to 199.  It's even got the MLB authentication sticker on it!  Everyone who entered the contest is entered to win this and a stack of your favorite team.  The list of entries was entered in a list randomizer at Random.org. You got an extra entry if you pimped the contest and only Jeff S let me know that he did.  The list was randomized 3 times and........

Oddly enough both winners are avid custom card makers as well.  At least I know I'll have some Royals to send Phils way.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. The 5th Annual Almost the Easiest World Series Contest on the Web comes to a close

Well that seemed quick.  I was kind of hoping the Series might go 6 or 7 and KC could win it at home.  I didn't get to watch too much of the game as the Packers were playing in Sunday Night Football, but once it was pretty clear that they would not be winning I switched over to watch the end of game 5 and I picked the perfect time right before KC tied the game in the 9th.  Anyhoo

So in the end we had 6 people correctly guess who would win the World Series.  So we go to the tie breakers.

Adam came pretty close to predicting total home runs too.  So what does Adam win??!!??  Well I was terrible this contest, in that I didn't have a prize already picked out. I was hoping to be able to snag something cool at the last card show I went to last week, but while the show featured some really cool stuff, cool = expensive, I didn't find anything really unique, but I'll probably write a post up about that experience later.  So I decided I'd wait and try and tailor the grand prize to the winner.  Adam who has his own blog ARPSmith's Sportcard Obsession  is a huge Giants fan and he collects a couple other players.  So digging through my eTopps collection I came out with a couple cards to add to his collection.  First up is a 2011 Topps 206 Rickey Henderson card and I also found one lone Giants card in my collection a 2007 Fred Lewis rookie card.  Both cards are numbered to just 749 copies.  I'll also be sending Adam a nice stack of cards from his team and if I can find anything from his needs lists.

Out of the 30 entries only 2 guys correctly guessed the team to win it all.  Neither one correctly guessed the right opponent, but one did guess the right number of games.  Congrats to AdamE who writes the blog Thoughts and Sox, although he's been absent as of late.  But hopefull with this great win, both for his favorite team and my contest, he might have something to blog about.  I always like having a second prize, so at least all those who entered still have a shot at winning something and also as an incentive to pimp the contest. If you didn't see my post about it up for grabs were three vintage 1969 Topps cards.

 Out of the 30 who entered I only had 4 people post a link to their pimp. If you pimped the contest you got an extra entry into the door prize drawing.  I took the list of entries, plus the extra pimp entries, 34 in all, over to Random.org and randomized the list 3 times. Congrats to the Night Owl for taking home the vintage! And I'm glad he won too. Since only he was brave enough to take the Indians before the wild card games.  I'll have some Dodgers in the mix for you too.

And I want to thank everyone who entered.  I also managed to add 3 new followers in the mix too. And overall it was a great playoffs and World Series.  I'm sure a few Red Bird fans might disagree, but it was a great match-up and nobody got swept, as a matter of fact I have a few really good friends who are Sox fans and they were very nervous going into tonight's game.  I just hope the city of Boston can survive the party.
